People who often feel tired or sore eyes, especially when nearsighted, due to working or being exposed to electronic devices a lot, can apply the simple eye exercises below.


The eye acts as a converging lens. All images entering the eye will be present in the retina. Finally, through the receptor cells and optic nerve, the brain will recognize the image similar to the outside world.

In nearsighted people, the image of an object when entering the eye will be in front of the retina instead of on the retina, so they will not be able to see distant objects clearly.

Exercise: Look up, down, left, right and hold each position for at least 2 seconds.

These movements have the effect of relaxing the muscles and improving circulation in the eye area".

Accordingly, the doctor requires the person to perform "eye exercises" sitting or standing comfortably, with an upright posture and a fixed head and neck.

For this exercise, everyone needs to look left, right, up, diagonally up, down, and diagonally down in turn (but do not turn or tilt your head).

Hold each look for at least 2 seconds.

Look far - look near

Hold your finger 15-20 cm away from your eyes, focusing on your finger for 10 seconds. Then, shift your gaze to an object further ahead (about 3-6 m away), and continue holding for 10 seconds.

Look back at your finger and repeat the exercise.

Near-far vision exercise. Place your finger about a hand's breadth in front of you, focus on it for 10 seconds, then look into the distance.

Blink

Blinking is a very simple thing that everyone does every day. In fact, it can also be a good "exercise" for the eyes if done correctly according to professional instructions.

How to do: blink continuously 10-15 times, then close your eyes and hold for 10 seconds to relax. Do this continuously 5-10 times to see the effect.

20 - 20 - 20 Method

According to Dr. Minh Nhu, after every 20 minutes of eye work, people should look about 6 meters (20 feet) away for 20 seconds.

For the above exercises, people can do 2-3 times/day, 5 minutes each time.

“Although regular eye-rolling exercises are effective in relaxing the eyes, they do not change the shape of the eyeball or the curvature of the cornea, and there is no scientific evidence that they help reduce myopia. Therefore, for people with myopia, in addition to practicing eye-relaxing exercises, they need to pay attention to regular eye exams; protect their eyes from the sun; wear glasses when playing sports or working; use appropriate lighting when reading or working; wear glasses according to prescription instructions; clean and maintain eyeglasses or contact lenses properly. In addition, a healthy lifestyle and nutrition, and control of other diseases are also things that people need to pay attention to,” Dr. Minh Nhu added.
