According to Counterpoint Research's preliminary assessment, the premium smartphone segment with a selling price of more than $600 will grow by 6% in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Although Apple (71%) saw its market share shrink compared to 2022 (75%), it remains the market leader in this segment, with sales four times that of second-place Samsung (17%).

The South Korean manufacturer managed to close the gap from last year (16%) thanks to good sales of the Galaxy S23 and foldable phones. Huawei (5%) came in third, growing well from last year (3%) with the Mate 60 series selling well in China, according to GSMArena .
Consumers are now willing to pay more for a high-quality device that can be used for a longer period of time, according to analyst Varun Mishra. The analyst added that in the mobile market, premium smartphones account for 24%.

The regions that saw the most high-end phone sales last year were China, Western Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa. In fact, China, India and Latin America are likely to set new records for high-end sales, with India being the fastest growing market globally.
Counterpoint Research expects that in the near future, the trend of high-end devices will grow faster than other phone lines.
