On November 29, the US e-commerce corporation Amazon introduced an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot named Q for businesses.
Chatbot Q is designed specifically for customers using Amazon's AWS cloud computing service and will compete directly with OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot, Google's Bard chatbot, as well as Microsoft's AI features that use OpenAI's technology.
For $20 a month, Amazon's chatbot can perform a variety of tasks, such as summarizing documents and answering questions about specific data stored on the company's servers. In an announcement on social network X, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the Q chatbot is a secure AI tool with more tightly controlled access to content. Meanwhile, Amazon AWS CEO Andrew Selipsky said cloud customers using the Q chatbot can also limit the chatbot's access to data sources.
OpenAI’s generative AI programs made headlines late last year when ChatGPT demonstrated its ability to generate essays, poems, and conversations from brief text prompts. In addition to the startup OpenAI, tech giants like Google, Meta, and Microsoft are racing to develop AI, while trying to avoid the potential dangers of the technology spreading misinformation and facilitating cybercrime.
