At 12:15 pm, the train left Dong Nai, bringing workers in difficult circumstances back to their hometowns in the Central and Northern regions to celebrate Tet.
On January 21, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in coordination with the Dong Nai Provincial Labor Confederation organized the program "Union Train - Spring 2025" at Bien Hoa Station. This is the first train to take workers home for Tet and departs from Bien Hoa Station.
Workers receive gifts before boarding the train to go home for Tet.
Accordingly, at noon of the same day, leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Dong Nai province met, wished a happy new year and presented gifts to union members at Bien Hoa station. Before departure, union leaders gave lucky money to workers and relatives traveling with them on the "Union Train - Spring 2025" program.
At around 12:15 p.m., the train officially departed from Bien Hoa station, taking 110 people, including 60 workers and their families, home for Tet. According to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, up to this point, 1,750 people have registered to participate in the program, including 1,009 union members and 741 of their relatives. Of these, 495 people from the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation; 450 people from the Binh Duong Provincial Labor Federation; 350 people from the Dong Nai Provincial Labor Federation; 200 people from the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Labor Federation; 183 people from the Long An Provincial Labor Federation; 56 people from the Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation; and 16 people from the Vietnam Railway Trade Union.
“Union Train - Spring 2025” is a program assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to the Dong Nai Provincial Labor Federation to preside over, coordinate with the Vietnam Railways Trade Union and related units to implement. The program aims to support union members and workers in difficult circumstances to return home to celebrate Tet happily and safely.
This year, the Trade Union Train - Spring 2025 was supported by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with nearly 2 billion VND to buy round-trip train tickets for workers working in the Southern provinces to return to the North to celebrate Tet.
Most union members and workers are people in difficult circumstances, who have not returned home for Tet for many years. Having received train tickets to return home, many workers expressed their gratitude to the Union for its care and support, giving them the opportunity to reunite with their loved ones this new spring.
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh (from Nam Dinh province), a worker at Tam Phuoc Industrial Park (Bien Hoa) said that this was the first time he had been given a train ticket to go home for Tet, so he was very excited. Mr. Minh said that he had not returned to his hometown for 5 years due to economic difficulties. “I am very happy and thank the units and trade unions at all levels for taking care of the workers during Tet so that we have the opportunity to return home to visit our families.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai from Nghe An was also lucky to receive a Tet ticket so she brought her child back to her hometown to celebrate Tet. Ms. Hai shared that she had not been home for Tet for many years and had only seen her elderly parents over the phone. Seeing her parents getting older and weaker, she wanted to go home to celebrate Tet to reunite with them. "I really cherish this ticket, I hope that other workers in difficult circumstances like me will receive tickets so that they can boldly go home for Tet with their families," Ms. Hai said.
