In recent times, Apple has made efforts to add health features to its iPhones and wearable devices: Apple Watch has supported users with ECG, SpO2, heart rate... In addition, Apple AirPods also added hearing aid features.
Recently, reports claimed that Apple is working on expanding the health features in the earpods. A report from Bloomberg said that Apple is working on adding heart rate monitoring and temperature sensors to the next generation AirPods.
The addition of heart rate monitoring is said to allow more customers to access the feature for health and fitness purposes without wearing an Apple Watch. In internal testing, Apple found that heart rate data was “more accurate” on the Apple Watch than on the AirPods, but the difference was small.
This isn’t the first time Apple has added a feature to its earbuds. Apple previously introduced a hearing aid feature for AirPods Pro 2, which helps users with mild to moderate hearing loss by enhancing sound in real time.
Therefore, it is certain that AirPods Pro 3 will also inherit the hearing aid feature to further expand its customer base.
Additionally, Apple is said to be considering plans to integrate cameras into AirPods, but Gurman believes any camera-equipped AirPods are still years away from launch.
Previously, there were sources saying that AirPods 3 would have upgraded active noise cancellation compared to the previous generation, but Apple has not confirmed this information.
There are also leaks that AirPods Pro 3 will be equipped with a new H3 chip, providing superior audio processing efficiency.
Users still need to wait for more specific information about AirPods Pro 3.
