AIIB to increase public and private sector support in Vietnam

On the afternoon of October 18, President Vo Van Thuong received President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun in Beijing, China.

The reception took place within the framework of the third Belt and Road Forum (BRF).

At the reception, the President highly appreciated the AIIB for continuously expanding its operations, achieving many important achievements and increasingly enhancing its role as a multilateral development bank, joining hands with organizations such as the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to provide capital to meet the needs of infrastructure development in the Asian region, especially for developing countries.

In the coming time, the President suggested that AIIB coordinate to support members with great demand for capital and technology; continue to promote infrastructure development in the Asian region, prioritizing the greening process and improving capacity to respond to climate change.

The President affirmed that the Vietnam-AIIB cooperation relationship is increasingly developing. As one of the founding members of the AIIB, participating right from the negotiation stage to build the Bank's Charter, Vietnam has always made active and responsible contributions to the development and shaping of the Bank's role in the region and internationally.

In addition, the President suggested that AIIB more effectively implement cooperation activities in the coming time.

AIIB President Jin Liqun highly appreciated Vietnam's active contributions to the establishment of AIIB as well as AIIB's activities in recent times.

Affirming that Vietnam has great potential for sustainable development, Mr. Kim Lap Quan pledged that AIIB will increase support for the public and private sectors in Vietnam in accessing AIIB capital sources, especially in the fields of climate change response and renewable energy.
