The victim who was taken hostage by the group that attacked the People's Committee headquarters in Dak Lak recounted the incident.

On June 16, still not over his fear, Y Yung Bkrong (19 years old, residing in Kpum village, Hoa Hiep commune, Cu Kuin district, Dak Lak province) recounted the extreme confusion during the days when he and two other workers were taken hostage by a group that attacked the commune People's Committee headquarters in Dak Lak.

Y Yung Bkrong recounted that he, Dieu Nguyen (32 years old), and Y Dun Bkrong (19 years old, all living in Kpum village, Hoa Hiep commune, Cu Kuin district) went to work as workers at the construction site of the Eastern bypass project of Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak. Because their houses were far away, Y Yung Bkrong, Dieu Nguyen, Y Dun Bkrong, and three other workers slept at the construction camp.

In the early morning of June 11, my group of workers and I were sleeping when we heard gunshots and destruction. Before we could understand what was happening, a gun was fired at us, causing us to bleed profusely. Immediately after, dozens of people rushed in and attacked the group of workers. I and the workers ran away. Three people were lucky to escape, while Dieu Nguyen, Y Dung Bkrong, and I were subdued and taken away. They declared that if anyone did not obey and ran away, they would be shot dead ,” Y Dung Bkrong recalled.

Y Yung Bkrong recounts the process of being controlled.

Y Yung Bkrong said that after controlling the three people, the group took them into the forest. It was dark and he could not determine where he was being taken. “ I kept trying to escape but could not because they pointed guns at me, and as soon as I tried, they threatened to shoot me. I was so panicked ,” Y Yung Bkrong said.

After that, the group took 3 people to the coffee plantation and continuously assigned people to monitor them. " They only gave us a handful of rice, some dry food and a few sips of water ," Y Yung Bkrong said.

Talking about the rescue process, Y Yung Bkrong said: “ It was dark at that time, I heard this group of people talking to each other that the police force was surrounding us. Hearing that, I was very happy because I knew I would be rescued. When the police force arrived, the group ran away. Taking advantage of that moment, Dieu Nguyen and I escaped from their gun range, but Y Dun Bkrong could not escape. After that, Dieu Nguyen and I were taken home by the police force and informed our families .”

Y Dun Bkrong, Doan Nguyen, and Y Yung Bkrong were still shocked when recounting the incident.

Sitting next to him, still not over his fear, Y Dun Bkrong recounted that after being chased by the police, the group continued to restrain him and ran into the deep forest.

“Y Yung Bkrong and Doan Nguyen escaped and were rescued by the police. Left alone, they took me into the forest, so I was very confused. For 4 days, I was controlled by the group, only given a small handful of rice. I was hungry and tired but had no way to escape. If I moved a tree branch too much, they would raise their gun and threaten to shoot me,” Y Dũn Bkrong recalled.

On the night of June 14, when the police force attacked and pursued the group, Y Dun Bkrong was rescued, taken to the headquarters of the People's Committee of Hoa Hiep commune for health care and handed over to his family.

When I returned, my mother was very happy, and the villagers were also happy, coming to share the joy. Now sitting at home, I know that I am still alive. Thank you very much, police, ” said Y Dun Bkrong.

Talking about his plans for the coming days, Doan Nguyen said that once their health stabilizes, the three of them will return to work at the construction site. “ We will go back to work after Y Yung Bkrong’s injury heals. I hope the police and military will arrest and deal with these people so that people can feel secure, ” Doan Nguyen shared.

Ms. H'Nhai Bkrong (Y Dun Bkrong's mother) also said that in the past few days, the local government and people in the village have always come to encourage and share joy with the family, so she feels very secure. When her child's health is stable, she will let him go back to work.
