According to information from ACV, on February 27, a working delegation led by ACV Chairman Vu The Phiet had a working session with leaders of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee to speed up the implementation of a number of items of the project to renovate and expand Vinh airport.
At the meeting, Mr. Vu The Phiet reported on the implementation of 3 projects that ACV is preparing to invest in to renovate and upgrade Vinh airport.
Regarding the project to expand and renovate the aircraft parking lot to ensure the exploitation of 9 parking positions for code C aircraft (Airbus A320, A321 and equivalent), ACV plans to start construction before April 30, 2025, and complete in December 2025 with a total investment of VND 236.63 billion.
The project to renovate the existing T1 passenger terminal is expected to start before April 30, 2025 and be completed in December 2025. This project was approved by ACV with a total investment of VND 68.36 billion. Once completed, it will meet the operating capacity of 3-3.5 million passengers/year until 2030.
For the repair of the existing runway with a length of 2,400m, a width of 45m, and 2 taxiways, brake strips, safety strips... with a total investment of more than 623 billion VND, Vinh airport is expected to close to start construction before June 30, 2025 and resume operations before December 31, 2025.
At the meeting, leaders of Nghe An province, ACV and delegates discussed and agreed on solutions to soon arrange the land area of 3,352 hectares located on the existing parking area to implement the project of expanding and renovating the aircraft parking area; it is necessary to build an investment roadmap for the next phase of the planned projects such as: building runway No. 2, expanding the aircraft parking area of Terminal T2, expanding the T2 passenger terminal, etc.
Currently, of the 3 ACV projects about to start construction, only part of the project site for expanding and renovating the aircraft parking lot is still stuck with legal procedures. Therefore, ACV requests the People's Committee of Nghe An province to support in resolving the problem as soon as possible.
Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh proposed assigning the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate in handling related issues regarding procedures for converting land use purposes and rights.
Regarding the runway renovation project, Mr. Vinh assessed this as the most important project and suggested that ACV focus on speeding up the implementation progress as soon as possible to minimize the closure time of Vinh airport.
At the same time, Mr. Vinh also agreed with ACV's proposal to soon invest in extending the existing runway by 600m to accommodate larger aircraft.
To speed up the progress and ensure the project's construction, ACV leaders hope that Nghe An Provincial People's Committee will pay attention and create favorable conditions for construction materials; in addition, they propose that the two sides coordinate to soon invest in extending the existing runway to 3,000m to ensure the exploitation of code E aircraft (Boeing B747, B777, B787, Airbus A350 and equivalent) for long flights, meeting the development needs of Vinh airport.
As the investor, ACV leaders are committed to synchronously implementing all 3 projects with the highest spirit and responsibility, determined to ensure completion before December 30, 2025.
The completion of these three projects aims to meet people's travel needs and improve air transport infrastructure in the Central region, in line with the needs and development orientation of Nghe An province in particular and the North Central region in general.
