On November 13, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province to hold a press conference to introduce the Ministry of National Defense-level scientific conference "60 years of Binh Gia Victory - Historical values and lessons learned".

Speaking at the opening of the press conference, Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, affirmed that the Binh Gia Victory has gone down in the history of the Vietnamese people's resistance war against the US to save the country as one of the important milestones for the failure of the "Special War" Strategy, a part of the global military strategy of "flexible response" of the US imperialists applied to the battlefield in South Vietnam.
The victory of Binh Gia created a new position and force, contributing to accelerating the bankruptcy of the "Special War" Strategy of the US imperialists. The victory had great strategic significance, had a profound influence at home and abroad, affirming the spirit of determination to fight, determination to win, daring to fight and defeat the American invaders of our army and people. Especially the important role of the armed forces of the Liberation of South Vietnam in leading and conducting the revolutionary war. It was truly a decisive blow, contributing to the failure of the national policy of "strategic hamlets", the "backbone" issue in the "Special War" Strategy of the US imperialists and the "armored transport" tactic of the US - puppet.
60 years have passed, but the great historical value of the Binh Gia Victory continues to become invaluable lessons, especially in the art of campaigning, using forces, applying fighting methods as well as combat operations, having a great influence for military agencies and units to apply in training practice for officers and soldiers today, meeting the requirements of modern warfare.
At the press conference, Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Sau, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Military History Institute, said that the workshop will take place on the morning of November 22, 2024 in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.
The purpose of the Workshop is to affirm and clarify the correct and wise leadership and direction of the Party Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and directly the Central Bureau and the Regional Command - the decisive factor in the victory of the Binh Gia Campaign.
In addition, it provides new documents, arguments, and profound scientific evidence to clarify the preparation process, campaign developments, roles, and coordination of forces participating in the campaign.
The workshop also aims to honor and pay tribute to the heroes and martyrs who fought and sacrificed for the cause of national liberation. At the same time, it contributes to propagating and educating cadres and soldiers in the armed forces and people nationwide to promote the glorious revolutionary tradition, continue to promote the cause of national renewal, and firmly protect the Fatherland.
The Organizing Committee of the Conference has received 74 papers. The papers are carefully and seriously researched, closely following the content of the Conference theme, contributing to clarifying the documents and exploiting events with a new, rich, and reliable perspective; the approach and problem solving methods are scientific, convincing, and ensure good quality.
The content of the presentation analyzes more deeply the historical context, developments, and significance of the Binh Gia Campaign, thereby continuing to affirm and highlight the great contributions and roles of the forces participating in the campaign that led to the Binh Gia Victory.
At the same time, it affirms the correct and wise strategic policy of the Party Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, directly the Central Bureau and the Regional Command; the process of building; organizing forces, ensuring logistics; the close and effective coordination of forces, units, areas and localities in the campaign; issues of law and art in directing and operating the war.
The workshop is expected to be attended by leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly; leaders of the Central Propaganda Department; representatives of central departments, ministries, branches, and organizations; heads and former heads of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, the General Department of Politics; leaders and former leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and a number of localities; leaders and commanders of agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense, along with scientists and historical witnesses...
In particular, the workshop was attended by three historical witnesses who directly participated in the Binh Gia Campaign. They were comrade Bui Van Hung, born in 1942, former Deputy Squad Leader of Company 2, Battalion 800, Military Region 7; comrade Mai Phuong Thanh, born in 1949, former Youth Volunteer who participated in the Binh Gia Campaign; comrade Nguyen Huu Sinh, born in 1940, former Lieutenant, Reconnaissance Company 81, Battalion 4, Dong Xoai Group./.
