After the Lunar New Year holiday, civil servants, public employees and workers nationwide will have a day off for the Hung Kings' death anniversary, April 30 and May 1.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, on the occasion of Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, workers will have one day off, which falls on Monday (April 7, or March 10 of the lunar calendar). Because the day before Hung Kings' Commemoration Day is Saturday and Sunday, the day off will be extended.
Civil servants, public employees, and workers can have 3 consecutive days off from April 5 to April 7, including 1 holiday and 2 weekend days.
On the occasion of April 30 - May 1, people across the country will have 5 consecutive days off, from Wednesday (April 30) to Sunday (May 4). Workers will work on Saturday (April 26) to make up for the lost time.
For agencies and units that do not have a fixed schedule for Saturday and Sunday every week, the specific program and plan of the unit will be used to arrange a suitable schedule.
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs encourages businesses to give employees time off according to the above schedule.
Due to work requirements, businesses may proactively ask employees to work on holidays and Tet. This will be considered overtime.
According to the 2019 Labor Code, when employees agree to work overtime on holidays, they will be paid overtime according to the provisions of Article 98 of this Code.
Specifically, working hours during the day of Lunar New Year are calculated at an additional 300% of the normal working day's salary. Employees working at night on holidays and Tet are calculated at an additional 390% of the normal working day's salary.
