According to a report by the Cambodian Cashew Association (CAC), in 2024, the country's cashew export turnover reached 1.15 billion USD, an increase of 31% over the previous year; of which, exports to Vietnam accounted for about 90%.

Notably, with output soaring to 850,000 tonnes in 2024, up 26% from 2023, Cambodia will become the world's second-largest producer of raw cashew nuts.

Cashew is currently one of Cambodia's potential and high-value commercial crops, alongside rice, rubber, cassava, palm oil, bananas, mangoes, longans and pepper.

Accordingly, some Cambodian agricultural products are not only exported in large quantities to Vietnam but are also direct competitors with Vietnamese goods in many markets.

Statistics from the General Department of Customs show that last year, Vietnamese businesses spent 1.07 billion USD to "purchase" nearly 820,000 tons of raw cashew nuts from Cambodia. Compared to 2023, the amount of cashews imported from the neighboring country increased by 33.5% and the value increased by 27.4%.

In the total import turnover of raw cashew nuts of our country, goods from Cambodia account for 33.2%.

In fact, in recent years, Cambodia has become the largest supplier of raw cashew nuts to Vietnam. Importing cashews from this neighboring country helps Vietnamese businesses stabilize their raw material sources for production and export, thereby maintaining their position as the world's number 1 cashew nut supplier for the past 18 years.

In 2024, our country will export about 723,800 tons of cashew nuts, with a turnover of 4.34 billion USD, up 12.4% in volume and a sharp increase of 19.2% in value compared to the previous year. This is a record high number since Vietnamese cashew nuts entered the international playground.

Quietly becoming the world's number 1 supplier, the cashew industry "embraces" a record of 4.34 billion USD. Although prices are not as hot as coffee, pepper or rice, the Vietnamese cashew industry still quietly "embraces" an export record of 4.34 billion USD in 2024, while maintaining its position as the world's number 1 supplier for 18 years.
