For the first time, Hanoi has become the destination for the world's top players to compete in an international-class billiards tournament, where the Hanoi Open Pool Championship is also the first Asian tournament in the prestigious World 9-Ball Tour system, along with the US Open, UK Open, European Open, and Spanish Open.
Hanoi Open Pool brings together the world's 9-ball billiard talents such as Shane Van Boening, Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, Fedor Gorst, Jayson Shaw... with an irresistible appeal to not only Vietnamese billiards fans but also the world.
With a total prize value of 200,000 USD, Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2023 will have 256 players participating, including 128 players in the top ranking of World 9-Ball Tour, along with 128 players who passed the qualifying round held in Hanoi from October 2-4.

"The Hanoi Open Pool Championship is also part of a series of events celebrating the 69th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day on October 10. Hanoi's goal is to develop culture, sports and tourism. Hanoi aims to organize cultural and sports events of regional and international stature. The tour of the band Blackpink (Korea), now the Hanoi Open Pool Championship, has shown that Hanoi can organize large-scale cultural and sports activities. Through these events, Hanoi will be known to more international friends," said Ms. Tran Thi Van Anh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
"I have watched Vietnamese players compete abroad and seen that they compete very well, not inferior to international players. However, due to conditions, not many Vietnamese athletes have the opportunity to compete abroad with the world's top players. Vietcontent organizes one of the world's top 9-ball billiard tournaments in Vietnam because it wants to bring that dream to Vietnam so that talented Vietnamese players who have not had the opportunity have the opportunity to compete," said Vietcontent Chairman of the Board of Directors Tran Thuy Chi.
In particular, as part of the series of events, on the penultimate day of the tournament (October 14), Vietnamese fans will also enjoy a performance by the legendary Effren Reyes.
Within the framework of the Hanoi Open Pool Championship, the organizers also hold the accompanying tournament Hanoi Junior Open - a playground for the brightest young talents in Southeast Asia to show off their talents in billiards, which will take place on October 13 and 14.
64 young players under 17 years old from Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Philippines, India and young players from Vietnam will compete for a total prize pool equivalent to 10,000 USD. This is a valuable opportunity for young Vietnamese players to compete with foreign opponents, including names such as Albert James Manas, a young Filipino player who has affirmed his talent through the qualifying round and Peri Open - two accompanying tournaments of Hanoi Open in early October.
Vietcontent will broadcast all 6 days of competition live on the media channel system including the YouTube channel Web Sports, fanpage Vietnam Billiards Promotion for fans in Vietnam to follow. The first four days of the tournament will be broadcast live globally on the official YouTube channel of Matchroom Pool.
On the final two days of competition, matches will be broadcast by Sky Sports. live television and global coverage with many channels/TV stations from other countries. In Vietnam, the last two days of the tournament will be broadcast on VTVcab TV channel.
