Hanoi The Hanoi runner group challenged themselves by conquering two distances of 10km and 21km at Hoan Kiem Lake.
There were 127 runners participating in the Breaking 365 event on the morning of January 6. Of these, 41 people conquered the 10km distance, while 86 people ran 21km. Each runner, when registering with the organizers, had to set a time target for themselves, then try to surpass it.

"This is not a race, but an opportunity for everyone to break their own limits and fight with themselves. The organizers set breaking points and arrange pacers to run according to that time," said organizer Dinh Linh.
In fact, Breaking 365 is a regular Saturday long run for a group of runners in Hanoi. Among the participants, there are 96 people from the Running 365 Club and 31 people from other clubs.
In early 2022, Run 365 organized a similar event called Breaking 3. However, that event had a full marathon (FM) distance and 52 people completed it. According to the organizers, Breaking 365 on January 6 did not have an FM distance because they wanted to keep the scope of a session that was both a training session and a challenge for the runners participating.
"We want to convey the message that every runner, whether fast or slow, understands dedication and courage, perseverance and effort. Thanks to that, runners can run to the best of their ability, surpassing themselves," said Mr. Dinh Linh.
Not all runners participating in Breaking 365 completed the set time. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, a runner currently participating in the Chay365 Club, set herself a time of 1 hour and 35 minutes for the 21km distance. Although she did not complete the race, the runner born in 1984 was happy because she dared to challenge her own limits, thereby setting a new PR.
"This is a very difficult time frame for my current ability. But because the nature of Breaking 365 is to break my own limits, I boldly chose it. I am not sad because I did not reach the time frame, but even happy because I knew it would be difficult but still dared to register. Surely, I will reach the 1:35 mark for the half marathon distance and this will be my goal in 2024," Yen shared.
