The 2025 Asian U18 Athletics Championship will take place from April 15 to 18 in Saudi Arabia. The Vietnamese athletics team will participate with three athletes: Le Thi Thao (women's 400m hurdles), Luong Thi Khan (women's 3,000m) and Mai Ngoc Anh (women's high jump).

According to team leader Nguyen Duc Nguyen - in charge of athletics at the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department, the team's goal at the tournament is to help young athletes gain experience in international competitions and be determined to achieve the correct professional parameters.

At the 2023 tournament, Vietnamese athletics won 1 gold medal by Nguyen Khanh Linh in the women's 1,500m event and 1 bronze medal by Do Hoang Nghia in the men's high jump event.

On the morning of April 18, Vietnam time, Vietnamese athletes completed their competition. And Mai Ngoc Anh won a silver medal in the women's high jump.

Before the final round, Mai Ngoc Anh was ranked second among the nine athletes with a personal best of 1.71m. Accordingly, Anh was only behind Chinese athlete Dong Jialing, who achieved a record of 1.78m.

Entering the competition, Mai Ngoc Anh and Dong Jialing quickly showed their superiority over their opponents when they easily cleared the 1.65m and 1.69m bars. At the decisive bar for the gold medal, 1.73m, Dong Jialing succeeded in the last jump to surpass Mai Ngoc Anh (unsuccessful in 3 jumps).

In the final of the women's 3,000m event, runner Luong Thi Khan only finished 4th with a time of 10 minutes 27.43 seconds, 15 seconds less than the bronze medal. However, this was not Khan's best personal achievement, as she had previously achieved a time of 10 minutes 18.88 seconds.

On the competition day of April 17, female athlete Le Thi Thao failed to qualify for the final of the 400m hurdles. She achieved a time of 1 minute 6.28 seconds and ranked 4th in the qualifying round. This was a pretty good result for Thao in the process of getting used to the hurdles event.

Le Thi Thao was born in 2009, over 1.7m tall. She is a potential athlete in the 200m and 400m distances and is expected to follow in the footsteps of her compatriot Quach Thi Lan.
