The University of Pennsylvania is the best business school in the United States, according to US News rankings.
On September 18, the US News ranking organization announced the list of the best universities for business education in the US. The ranking is based on the evaluation of deans and senior lecturers at more than 500 universities. The maximum score is 5.
The top spots in this year's rankings are similar to last year's. The University of Pennsylvania holds the top spot for the eighth consecutive year, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Here are the detailed rankings:
1. University of Pennsylvania: 4.7/5 points
The University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A member of the Ivy League, UPENN is also the 6th best school in the US, according to the 2024 US News university rankings.
Business, Management and Marketing are all famous and have the largest number of graduates here. UPENN has 12 member schools, of which the Wharton School is the place to train many business majors such as Finance, Economic Analysis or Business Economics and Public Policy. Wharton graduates receive an average starting salary of 85,300 USD per year (nearly 2.1 billion VND).
UPENN has an acceptance rate of 6.5%. For the 2023-2024 school year, the school's tuition is $58,600 (VND 1.4 billion).
2. Massachusetts Institute of Technology: 4.6 points
MIT is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and was selected by US News as the second best university in the United States in general and in Business in particular.
Although MIT’s strengths are in Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics, students can also pursue Business Analytics, Finance, or Business Administration at the Sloan School of Management, a member of MIT. A business degree from MIT can help graduates earn an average of $106,000 per year (VND 2.5 billion).
Of the nearly 27,000 applications this year, only about 5%, or 1,300 students, were accepted. Tuition for the 2023-2024 school year is $59,750.
2. University of California, Berkeley: 4.6 points
Tied with MIT is the University of California, Berkeley (UCB), which is rated the best public school and the third best business school in the US.
In addition to popular majors such as Social Sciences and Information Sciences, UCB also has the Haas School of Business - a place to train high-quality bachelors in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship. Haas bachelors have an average starting salary of 90,000 USD a year (nearly 2.2 billion VND).
Of the more than 125,000 applicants, only 14,500, or 11%, were accepted to UCB this fall. Tuition for the 2023-2024 academic year for international students is $48,500.
4. University of Michigan, Ann Arbor: 4.5 points
Located in Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan is the third best public university in the US, according to the 2024 US News rankings. The school's most popular majors are Computer Science, Economics, and Business Administration.
Ross School of Business - a member of the University of Michigan, offers a Bachelor of Business Administration, with two majors: Business and Entrepreneurship. Ross School of Business's Bachelor of Business can earn an average of $90,000 a year immediately after graduation.
The school's acceptance rate is 18%. This school year, international students will have to pay about 56,000-63,000 USD (1.3-1.5 billion VND) in tuition.

5. New York University: 4.4 points
New York University (NYU) is the 35th best school in the US in 2024, famous for its Performing Arts, Social Sciences and Business majors. The Stern School of Business - a member of NYU, offers a range of training programs such as International Business, Management, Marketing or Finance. Stern students also earn an average of 91,000 USD a year (2.2 billion VND) after graduation.
This year, of the 120,000 applicants, only 8% were accepted – the lowest rate in 16 years. Tuition this year is about 30,200 USD (more than 730 million VND).
5. University of Texas, Austin: 4.4 points
Located in Austin, the University of Texas is a top 10 public university in the US, with popular majors such as Biological Sciences, Engineering, Journalism - Communications and Business.
The McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas offers many majors, including Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, and Business Administration, all of which are in the top 5 in the US for quality of education. The average starting salary for a McCombs graduate is $81,600 a year (nearly 2 billion VND).
McCombs is enrolling nearly 5,000 students from around the world this year. International students will pay nearly $49,000 in tuition for the 2023-2024 school year.
7. Carnegie Mellon University: 4.3 points
Carnegie Mellon is a top 25 university in the United States, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The school's famous field of study is Science and Technology.
Carnegie Mellon’s School of Business offers bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Economics. Tepper graduates can expect to earn an average salary of $80,600 a year.
The school's acceptance rate this year is 11%. Students will have to pay 62,260 USD (1.5 billion VND) for the whole year's tuition.
8. Cornell University: 4.2 points
Cornell University is an Ivy League university located in Ithaca, New York. It is ranked 12th among the best universities in the United States. The three most popular majors at Cornell are Computer Science, Engineering, and Business.
The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, which offers a degree in Applied Economics and Management, is ranked 8th among the best business schools in the US. Students can earn an average of $88,600 a year after graduation.
This year, Cornell University recruited nearly 5,000 students, with an acceptance rate of 7%. Tuition for international students is 65,200 USD (nearly 1.6 billion VND).
8. Indiana University, Bloomington: 4.2 points
Tied with Cornell is Indiana University, located in Bloomington. Although ranked 73rd in the US university rankings, Indiana’s Kelley School of Business has 8 majors in the top 10 best business training programs. Notable majors are Accounting, Business Analysis, Economic Consulting and Finance. On average, Kelly graduates receive a starting salary of 62,000-75,000 USD a year (1.5-1.8 billion VND).
The school's acceptance rate is 85%. This year, international students will have to pay about $40,500 in tuition (more than VND980 million).
8. University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill: 4.2 points
Also in 8th place is the University of North Carolina - the fourth best public university in the US, located in the state of the same name. This university has the Kenan-Flagler School of Business, which teaches subjects such as Corporate Finance, Applied Business Analytics or Strategic Management. Kenan-Flagler graduates earn an average of $83,500 a year (VND 2 billion) right after graduation.
Last year, about 5,300 students were admitted to the school. The acceptance rate was 17%. Tuition for the 2023-2024 school year for international students is about $40,000 (over 970 million).
8. University of Southern California: 4.2 points
Located in Los Angeles, the University of Southern California (USC) is in the top 30 best universities in 2024 and is also rated as the 8th best place to study business in the US.
The USC Marshall School of Business is renowned for its Business Administration, Accounting and Finance majors. This is also the major with the most graduates at USC. On average, Marshall students earn a starting salary of $72,800 a year.
This year, USC received more than 80,000 applications, but only about 8,000 students were accepted. The acceptance rate was 9.9%, the lowest ever.
Tuition at USC for the 2023-2024 academic year is nearly $67,000 (VND 1.6 billion).
