However, the Lunar New Year 2025 will be more special, because now Xuan Son is a Vietnamese citizen and has become one of the most beloved figures among football fans.
Xuan Son sent his thanks to the fans: "Vietnamese fans are so passionate. I want to thank them for loving me so much. I don't understand all the messages of love, but I always appreciate everyone's care and encouragement. That is the motivation for me to come back stronger, to dedicate my life and talent to Vietnamese football and the country of Vietnam."

Nguyen Xuan Son will become a Vietnamese citizen in September 2024. However, this player will have to wait until the end of December to be eligible to play for the Vietnamese national team according to FIFA regulations. After only the first 4 matches, Xuan Son showed his quick integration with 7 goals and 2 assists for teammates to score at the AFF Cup 2024.
The striker born in 1997 made a great contribution to helping the Vietnamese team win the championship. Xuan Son also won two individual awards as the top scorer and best player of the tournament. This striker is one of six players of the Vietnamese team to be awarded the Third Class Labor Medal.
