On April 19, Mr. Dang Hoang Nam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak To district (Kon Tum province) said that on April 27, the district will organize a ceremony to receive the decision to recognize the T59 tank number 377 as a National Treasure.
Tank 377 became a monument located in the center of Dak To town (Dak To district, Kon Tum province).
Accordingly, in 1960, T59 tank number 377 was assigned to Regiment 202, belonging to the Tank - Armored Corps, stationed in Vinh Yen (Vinh Phuc province).
In May 1971, tank 377 was mobilized to supplement Battalion 297, Regiment 203 to participate in combat at the Central Highlands Front (now Army Corps 3, Ministry of National Defense).
In 1972, T59 tank number 377 participated in the Northern Central Highlands campaign, directly fighting in Dak To - Tan Canh.
In this campaign, tank 377 was the only vehicle with high combat performance in a battle of tank and armored forces.
In this battle, tank 377 destroyed 7 enemy tanks; the entire crew heroically sacrificed their lives while fighting, marking a glorious and especially outstanding achievement of tank crew 377.
In memory of the feats and to praise the heroic martyrs, on September 1, 2009, President Nguyen Minh Triet signed a decision to confer the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces on the crew of tank 377. On January 30, 2023, the Prime Minister recognized tank 377 as a National Treasure.
Tank 377 became a monument located in the center of Dak To town, the land where they devoted their entire youth to their homeland and country.
The heroic feats and sacrifices of the crew members have left an indelible mark in the hearts of the army and people of the Central Highlands as well as generations of officers and soldiers of the Tank - Armored Corps.
