On the morning of December 3, in Hai Duong City, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the Hai Duong Province Union of Science and Technology Associations held a workshop on "Developing organic agricultural production models associated with ecotourism in Hai Duong Province".
Comrades: Pham Quang Thao, Vice President of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Nguyen Van Thong, President of Hai Duong Union of Science and Technology Associations chaired the workshop.
Also attending the workshop were representatives of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of provinces and cities: Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Hung Yen.
At the workshop, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Luong Thi Kiem said that organic agricultural production in Hai Duong has begun to develop in Tu Ky, Gia Loc, Thanh Ha districts and Kinh Mon town. The whole province has over 542 hectares of organic agricultural production combined with the exploitation of earthworms and crabs, of which 137 hectares in An Thanh commune (Tu Ky) have been granted a certificate of production in accordance with the requirements of the national organic agricultural standard TCVN 11041-2:2027.
Hai Duong has the potential to develop eco-tourism and has built unique tourism products associated with visiting fruit gardens, clean agricultural production tourism areas, and organic agriculture in Thanh Mien and Tu Ky districts...
However, the development of organic agriculture associated with tourism development in Hai Duong is currently facing some difficulties due to lack of capital, people still maintain old production practices, there are not many links between organic agriculture and ecotourism, and there are not many models to develop rural tourism associated with environmental protection...
At the workshop, representatives of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Hai Phong City, Thai Binh Province... shared some experiences in developing organic agriculture associated with developing ecotourism such as: needing space to organize agricultural and rural tourism activities; organizing experiential activities for tourists; developing advantageous crops and livestock, bearing regional characteristics, creating a distinct mark of the province, building centers to introduce agricultural products and welcome tourists...
Agreeing with the opinions of the participants in the workshop, the leaders of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations affirmed that organic agricultural production associated with ecotourism development is an inevitable trend. This combination brings benefits to both agricultural production and the tourism industry, creates jobs for people in rural areas, creates clean products, and contributes to improving the health of consumers...
To do this, Hai Duong in particular and other provinces and cities in general need to exploit all potentials and advantages, and have different products and experiences to attract sustainable tourists. There needs to be specific policies and priorities for organic agricultural areas and eco-tourism. Propaganda and raising awareness of people in these areas so that they change their way of thinking and doing, there must be links between many partners... Promote propaganda of agricultural products and local tourist attractions for tourists inside and outside the province, even foreign tourists to experience.
