Kinhtedothi - On November 22, Hanoi Department of Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Chuong My district to organize a training conference on developing agricultural and rural community tourism models in building new rural areas in Chuong My district.

Regarding the potential for tourism development in the district, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Chuong My district, Duong Thi Thanh, said that located in the southwest of Hanoi, Chuong My district is known for many famous relics and scenic spots such as Tram Pagoda, Tram Gian Pagoda, Vo Vi Pagoda, etc.

At the same time, Chuong My is the leading district in Hanoi in terms of the number of craft villages with 175 traditional craft villages and craft villages. In addition, in Chuong My district, there are many lakes such as Dong Suong, Van Son with an area of about 167 hectares suitable for outdoor activities and recreational fishing. Besides, there is also a resort complex and 36-hole golf course Sky Lake Resort & Golf Club serving customers with high spending levels.

Based on the development of the local potential and located in the semi-mountainous area, Chuong My district is favorable for developing all three types of cultural-historical tourism; eco-tourism, resort tourism and craft village tourism. In order to exploit the strengths and potential for tourism development, Chuong My district is focusing on building, forming and exploiting a number of tourist spots, routes and tours.

“For historical and cultural tourist attractions, the district has planned a master plan for Tram Pagoda tourist area with an area of 50 hectares to build a model of cultural tourism combined with eco-tourism, renovating and upgrading Tram Pagoda and Tram Gian Pagoda to attract visitors from all over the world,” Ms. Thanh shared.

Although Chuong My has great potential, its tourism development is not commensurate. According to statistics from the Department of Culture and Information of Chuong My district, although the number of tourists coming to the district has increased in recent years, the number is still modest. The reason is due to the lack of technical and material conditions, infrastructure, and uninvested and exploited tourism resources. The propaganda and promotion of Chuong My tourism has not received due attention, the tourism products are monotonous, not satisfying and attractive to tourists...

To overcome these shortcomings, Head of the Faculty of Tourism (East Asia University of Technology) Nguyen Duc Thang proposed that Chuong My district needs to develop a project to develop community tourism associated with craft village products in the direction of green and sustainable growth.

Promote the introduction of craft village products, build unique experiential products, and aim to have accommodation services to help tourists extend their visit time. In addition, management agencies and people strengthen communication and promote cultural tourism, agriculture, and OCOP products to tourists.

“After tourists experience, visit relics, and learn about culture, they will want to buy agricultural products that suit their needs. At that time, the community is both the subject and the beneficiary of tourism,” said Mr. Thang.

The Hanoi Department of Tourism's support for suburban districts to develop community tourism and green tourism not only contributes to promoting tourism development but also diversifies rural industries.

At the same time, it creates more jobs on the spot, increases income for people, helps preserve and promote traditional cultural values, and improves the material and spiritual life of the local community.
