Saltwater intrusion decreases, water level in Go Cong Freshening area gradually increases

Vegetables in the Go Cong Sweetening area are still green thanks to the guaranteed irrigation water source.

According to records, the salinity at some measuring points on April 14 decreased compared to previous days. Specifically, on the Tien River, at Xuan Hoa sluice (Cho Gao district), the highest salinity was 0.74 g/l; Tan My Chanh sluice 0.59 g/l; Thu Khoa Huan Park (My Tho city) 0.5 g/l.

On the Ham Luong River, at Vam Mon (Cho Lach District, Ben Tre Province), the highest salinity is 0.2 g/l. On the Vam Co Tay River, at Tan An Bridge, Tan An City, Long An Province, the highest salinity is 0.9 g/l.

In response to the above saline intrusion, in the Go Cong Freshening Project area, Xuan Hoa sluice has been decanting fresh water. Thanks to the reduction in saline intrusion, in recent days, Xuan Hoa sluice has been decanting fresh water to supplement the Go Cong Freshening area.

Thanks to that, the water level on the main canal in the Go Cong Freshening area has increased significantly, currently fluctuating from +0.09 to +0.12 m. With the current water level, the water source for production and daily life in the Go Cong Freshening area is still guaranteed during the dry season.

At Bao Dinh Project, Bao Dinh and Xoai Hot sluices are operating to take water; Go Cat is closed. Water level on the main axis canal is from +0.5 to +0.56 m.

According to experts, saltwater intrusion has peaked and will continue to decrease in the coming days.
