World Cup billiards: Genius Caudron shocked to be eliminated, 2 Vietnamese players compete for tickets to the finals

Star Frederic Caudron no longer has the chance to appear at the 2024 Ankara 3-cushion carom billiards World Cup. Meanwhile, two talented Vietnamese players will compete in the 4th qualifying round to compete for a ticket to the final round.
The competition day of June 11 witnessed a big surprise at the 3-cushion carom billiards World Cup Ankara 2024 (currently taking place in Türkiye). Frederic Caudron officially stopped in the 3rd qualifying round with a record of 1 win, 1 loss. The player nicknamed "billboard genius" started the 3rd qualifying round smoothly, when he won 35-21 against Huub Wilkowski. But in the deciding match, the Belgian star unexpectedly lost to Lukas Stamm (German, ranked 62nd in the world).
The fact that genius Caudron stopped at the 3rd qualifying round was considered a shock to fans.

Caudron started the match well with a 10-point series and led 15-7, before entering the break. But when he returned, the 21-time World Cup champion suddenly lost his rhythm, while Lukas Stamm rose strongly. Stamm continuously shortened the gap and maintained his grip until the end of the match. When Caudron was leading 34-29, Stamm (holding the yellow ball) coolly finished with a series of 6. Thereby, the German player convincingly won the ticket to the 4th qualifying round.
At the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City 3-cushion Billiards World Cup, which ended at the end of May, Caudron reached the quarterfinals. But at the 2024 Ankara World Cup, the "Billiards genius" stopped early in the qualifying round. With this achievement, the Belgian player will certainly have to continue competing from the "parking lot" of the next World Cup in Porto (Portugal) in July 2024.
Chiem Hong Thai will play in the 4th qualifying round to compete for a ticket to the round of 32 of the 2024 Ankara World Cup.

Returning to the 2024 Ankara World Cup, three Vietnamese players, Le Hoang Kim, Thon Viet Hoang Minh and Doan Minh Kiet, all failed to pass the third qualifying round. In the fourth qualifying round on June 12, Chiem Hong Thai (ranked 21st in the world) and Tran Thanh Luc (ranked 28th in the world) will compete. The two Vietnamese players are expected to win tickets to the final round (round of 32) of the 2024 Ankara World Cup. Hong Thai is in Group D with Kang Ja-in and Seymen Ozbas, and will play the first match at 5:00 p.m. on June 12. Thanh Luc is divided into Group K with Paul De Bruijn and Pierre Soumagne, and will play the first match at 6:30 p.m. on the same day.
