Overcoming the Headwinds

But for tens of thousands of workers in the transport sector, even when Tet is near, they are still putting aside their personal lives to stick to the construction site day and night with hasty meals and incomplete sleep. Many bridges and roads need their hands and minds to soon reveal their shape, in time to connect the shores of joy.

The cover and table of contents of Giao thong Newspaper's Lunar New Year issue of Giap Thin have the theme "Overcoming the headwind".

That is the spirit of working "through holidays and Tet", "overcoming the sun and overcoming the rain", "only moving forward, not backward" of the entire transport industry. Thanks to determination and tireless efforts, in 2023, transport infrastructure has made great strides when nearly 500km of expressways were put into operation. This is also the year with the most completed and started expressway projects in over a decade.

Attending the year-end review ceremony of the transport sector in 2023, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that this spirit spread to localities and traffic construction sites. He assessed that the transport sector has made a great contribution to the country's overall achievements.

The achievement that the Prime Minister mentioned is that in the context of general difficulties of the world economy, Vietnam still achieved a GDP growth rate of 5.05%. Vietnam is among the countries with high growth rates in the world, and has been assessed by many prestigious financial institutions and international organizations: Vietnam's economy is a bright spot in the gray picture of the global economy.

In the context of many changes in the world, in 2023, Vietnam left many historical marks in the field of foreign affairs. In addition to the visits of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden, Vietnam also welcomed a series of heads of state from major countries with many strong investment commitments...

2023 is also a year with many major cases being directed to be strictly handled such as: Van Thinh Phat and SCB Bank, rescue flights, Viet A, FLC, Tan Hoang Minh, AIC... continuing to affirm the Party's determination to prevent and fight against corruption and negativity, clean up the investment and business environment, and further build people's trust in the Party's leadership role.

Overall, Vietnam has overcome the "headwinds" when facing many difficulties and challenges. That has made Vietnam recognized by many international organizations as a country with many outstanding achievements, and is expected to recover quickly in the near future.
