Murder in District 12: Witness recounts when suspect went to buy knife

Before committing the crime, despite the rain, the man still went out to buy a knife… More than an hour later, the man returned to the shop to talk, then used a knife to stab the woman to death and commit suicide.

Regarding the case of “Sitting at a coffee shop in District 12, a man stabbed a woman to death and then committed suicide” as reported by SGGP Newspaper, on July 16, District 12 Police and other departments of Ho Chi Minh City Police are still investigating to clarify this serious murder case.

The suspect was initially identified as HVH (born in 1985, residing in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) and the victim as Ms. MTV (born in 1982, residing in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City).

On the afternoon of June 15, H. and Ms. V. and a woman went to a coffee shop on Le Van Khuong Street (District 12). Then, all three ordered drinks and went to the first floor of the shop to sit.

After talking for a while, H. went downstairs and then went out of the shop even though it was raining heavily. H. went to the grocery store to buy a knife, but because the store did not sell knives, H. left.

Nearly 2 hours later, H. returned to the restaurant and continued to sit and talk with Ms. V. When the woman sitting at the same table left, H. stabbed Ms. V. multiple times with a knife in front of many customers at the restaurant.

When Mrs. V. was lying down, H. used a knife to stab her in the chest and stomach until she lay motionless next to the woman.

Many curious people watched, so traffic through the area was congested.

The owner of the grocery store across from the coffee shop said that before the murder, H. had come to the store to buy a knife.

“It was raining heavily at the time, and the man came to ask to buy a knife, but I told him that the store only sold groceries. The man stood there for a while, then left in the rain. More than an hour later, I was shocked to hear that this man had stabbed a woman and then committed suicide,” the grocery store owner shared.

A witness who was also a customer at the restaurant said that at the time of the murder, there were many customers sitting and drinking in the restaurant. The man and woman were sitting on the first floor.

The man then stabbed the woman multiple times with a knife. After seeing the woman collapse, the man stabbed himself, resulting in his death.

“The incident happened very quickly, just over a minute. At that time, everyone in the restaurant panicked and ran away,” the witness added.
