According to information from the Hanoi Cheo Theater on July 15, the unit has just debuted the ancient Cheo play “Luu Binh - Duong Le” with an elaborate and dedicated restoration by People's Artist Tran Quoc Chiem. The play premiered on the evening of July 13 and attracted a large audience of all ages and even foreign audiences.

The “sure hand” of the restorer and the rich experience on stage of the talented artists contributed to the attraction of the play. Therefore, the Dai Nam Theater auditorium had no empty seats and the audience continuously applauded.
The ancient Cheo play "Luu Binh - Duong Le" is one of the seven famous Cheo plays of Cheo art. "Luu Binh - Duong Le" is also considered one of the best ancient Cheo plays, with an unchanging value regardless of the era. Therefore, there have been many versions of "Luu Binh - Duong Le" and renewing it is always a big challenge.
However, Hanoi Cheo Theater has succeeded in recreating “Luu Binh - Duong Le” with a team of young artists, new faces, actors in their twenties, full of talent and passion for dedication.
That is Quang Truong in the role of Luu Binh - the "heaviest" role in the play, because he appears almost from beginning to end, is the main character with many songs, chants and different emotional states. With this role, Quang Truong is considered to have portrayed the character well with his natural acting, handsome appearance and sweet voice.
Young artist Tien Dat playing the role of Duong Le also created many surprises. Previously, Tien Dat often played humorous and witty roles, so when he transformed into the role of a newly passed "civil mandarin", he got into character very well, creating excitement for the audience present.

His deep voice, dignified demeanor, confident, steady voice, and proactive, confident acting made Tien Dat's role, despite his short screen time, leave a strong impression on the audience.
Also a character that appears throughout the play - Chau Long, played by young artist Dieu Linh - has created a lot of sympathy for the audience. Being assigned a main role for the first time, and also a "model role" in Cheo, Dieu Linh felt quite pressured.
However, with a beautiful face, charming acting and a sweet voice, Dieu Linh transformed into the role of Chau Long quite "round".
To achieve these successes, in addition to their own talent and efforts, Quang Truong, Tien Dat and Dieu Linh were taught by the Theater's senior artists, namely Meritorious Artist Hong Nam, Meritorious Artist Hoai Anh and Artist Tuan Kha.
These are three artists who have performed hundreds of shows with these role models, they have enthusiastically passed on all the quintessence of ancient knowledge, as well as professional experience. Therefore, the three young actors have absorbed a lot of quintessence to emotionally transform into the characters of Luu Binh - Duong Le - Chau Long.
In addition to the three artists playing the main roles, the other artists participating in the play are all talented faces of the Hanoi Cheo Theater such as Xuan Dung, Thuy Hang, Hong Tham, Ngoc Ha...
Especially artist Khac Huy (as Tru Phong) with his charming and humorous performance brought laughter and relaxing moments to the audience.
In addition, with this version, People's Artist Tran Quoc Chiem has been very dedicated to preserving the exemplary elements of ancient Cheo, paying close attention to every movement and every melody to highlight the unique values of Cheo.
In particular, People's Artist Quoc Chiem added some details such as the Tu Ma mirror being a real mirror instead of the previous "symbolic" performance form, or the recitation of a poem before the opening summarizing the meaning of the play and some other details that contributed to creating novelty.
The play also added dances to make the scenes more graceful and contribute to increasing the appeal of an ancient Cheo play.
