Khanh Hoa A few days after crushing SLNA, former champion Viettel let the team standing in the bottom half of the scoreboard, Khanh Hoa, hold them to a 0-0 draw in round 11 of V-League 2023 on the afternoon of June 6.
Since the beginning of the season, Viettel has never won two consecutive matches in the V-League. Therefore, although the squad has many players from the U23 or national team, such as Nham Manh Dung, Nguyen Hoang Duc or Nguyen Duc Chien, they are not rated too highly compared to Khanh Hoa.
The home team is also not in impressive form, winning only one of the last four matches. But more or less, they have the advantage of the home field on August 19 - where coach Vo Ngoc Tan and his team only suffered one defeat against the top team Thanh Hoa.

And this reality was reflected in the developments. Viettel controlled the ball a lot, but had difficulty approaching Khanh Hoa's goal. In the first half, they only created two significant opportunities. The first was Duong Van Hao's missed shot at close range, after a low cross from the right wing by Jaha. In the 22nd minute, Duc Chien headed the ball over the crossbar from a corner kick.
In between, Khanh Hoa responded. Vietnamese-American striker Ryan Ha once accelerated, got past Tran Manh Cuong and crossed to Muacir but missed. Tran Van Tung from the second line charged up and volleyed the ball in an open position, sending it wide of the goal. Ha then had another chance but could not beat goalkeeper Van Phong.
In the second half, Viettel suffered a loss when Jaha was injured in the 52nd minute. The heavy rain that poured down from the 70th minute also prevented players from playing as expected, constantly making bad passes and creating very few opportunities.
Khanh Hoa's rare dangerous situation came in the 64th minute, when Duy Thanh chipped the ball behind Viettel's defense for Ut Cuong to tap into the net. In the 88th minute, Viettel had a precious opportunity. Hoang Duc crossed the ball but Duc Chien headed it wide. If Duy Thuong had finished, Viettel would have likely scored.
With a 0-0 draw, Viettel moved up to fifth place with 15 points, equal to Hai Phong, Binh Dinh and Nam Dinh but ranked higher due to the best goal difference. Khanh Hoa has 12 points, ranked 11th, six points ahead of bottom team Da Nang and three points away from the top eight.
