In 2024, Da Nang welcomed more than 222,000 Indian visitors, accounting for 5.3% of the total international visitor structure to the city. Compared to 2019, the peak period of tourism before the COVID-19 pandemic, the total number of Indian visitors to Da Nang increased by more than 13.5 times. This is an extremely impressive increase, affirming the tourism recovery capacity and the great potential for growth in visitor exchange between Central Vietnam and India in the coming time.

Attending the road show introducing Da Nang tourism in Ahmedabad on February 17, Vietnamese Consul General in Mumbai (India) Le Quang Bien acknowledged that Vietjet Air's opening of a flight route connecting Da Nang - Ahmedabad has created more favorable conditions for Indian tourists to come to Da Nang City as well as the Central region and vice versa.

Director of Vietjet Central Branch Tran Hoang Linh said that the airline is currently operating about 420 domestic and international flights per day, serving more than 200 million passengers. Vietjet's network spans across Vietnam and has expanded to Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, India, Australia, etc.

In particular, the vibrant and rapidly developing country of India has not only become an integral part of Vietjet’s network but is now one of the airline’s most important markets. On average, Vietjet operates 34 round-trip flights per week connecting New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi (India) with major cities in Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang.

In 2024, Vietjet transported nearly 644,000 passengers between the two countries; at the same time, it launched a new route Ahmedabad - Da Nang. From March 2025, Vietjet will launch two new routes connecting Bangalore and Hyderabad with Ho Chi Minh City to further enhance business and tourism exchanges between Vietnam and India.

At the same time, Ms. Mai Anh - Vietjet Communications Director said that due to the increasing demand for travel and tourism between Da Nang and the Central region with India, the airline is researching and evaluating the potential to open more and increase the frequency of its flights. "The goal is to attract more Indian tourists to Da Nang, Vietnam, contributing to the economic and tourism development of the locality and the region," Ms. Mai Anh said.

Speaking at the road show introducing Da Nang tourism in Ahmedabad, Mr. Le Quang Bien emphasized that opening direct flights is one of the important factors that not only contributes to strongly promoting tourism between Vietnam and India but also opens up new cooperation opportunities in many fields between the two countries.

“I believe that with the close cooperation between agencies, tourism associations and businesses on both sides, as well as support from airlines and tourism between Da Nang and Ahmedabad in particular, Vietnam and India in general will develop more and more strongly,” the Consul General of Vietnam in Mumbai (India) emphasized.
