National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam has consistently given top priority to the special, "unique" traditional relationship with Laos.

According to the special correspondent of VNA, within the framework of the official visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, on the afternoon of October 17, at the headquarters of the Lao Prime Minister's Office, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone expressed his joy and appreciation for National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to pay an official visit to Laos and attend the 45th AIPA General Assembly; expressing his belief that the visit would make a practical contribution to the success of the 45th AIPA General Assembly; and thanked Vietnam for supporting Laos in successfully organizing the 44th-45th ASEAN Summits and related summits, successfully assuming the role of ASEAN Chair, AIPA Chair and organizing the 45th AIPA General Assembly.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully thanked the Lao Prime Minister and Lao leaders for giving the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly a warm, respectful, thoughtful and fraternal welcome.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully conveyed the regards and best wishes of health from General Secretary and President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Lao leaders.
The Lao Prime Minister sincerely sympathized with the Party, State and people of Vietnam on the heavy losses caused by storm No. 3 (Yagi) and its circulation to the capital Hanoi and the northern provinces as well as storm No. 4 (Soulik) to the central provinces of Vietnam; expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Party, State and people of Vietnam will soon overcome this difficulty.
The Lao Prime Minister congratulated the Vietnamese people on the great achievements they have achieved under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the cause of national construction and development; highly appreciated Vietnam's continued strong economic growth, political stability, increasingly improved people's lives, expanded foreign relations, and increasingly enhanced role and position of Vietnam in the region and the international arena.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone was pleased to see that the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam has been increasingly strengthened and continuously developed. This is demonstrated through regular and continuous visits and exchanges of high-level delegations and delegations at all levels at both central and local levels. Economic, trade and investment cooperation has also made significant progress.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated the great and comprehensive achievements that the Lao Party, State and people have made in implementing the Resolution of the 11th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the 9th Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021-2025); firmly believing that under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Laos will successfully organize the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party in early 2026 and successfully complete national development strategies.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam consistently gives top priority to the special, "unique" traditional relationship with Laos, and always stands side by side and strongly and comprehensively supports Laos' cause of protection, construction, innovation and development.
The National Assembly Chairman expressed his wish to promote the relationship between the two countries and the two National Assemblies in depth, effectively and practically, serving the cause of innovation, national construction and protection in each country; at the same time, he stated that Vietnam is ready to strengthen cooperation, share with Laos experiences in building and amending the Constitution and laws as well as share information and support Laos to successfully organize conferences during its ASEAN Chairmanship and AIPA Chairmanship in 2024.
The Lao Prime Minister highly appreciated the results of the talks between the Chairmen of the Lao and Vietnamese National Assemblies, in which the two sides assessed the cooperation between the two countries' legislative bodies, exchanged views on regional and international situations, and discussed directions and cooperation plans for the coming time.
The Lao Prime Minister supports the Lao National Assembly and the Vietnamese National Assembly to continue implementing the Cooperation Agreement, especially continuing to exchange high-level delegations and delegations at all levels, implementing monitoring activities and promoting the implementation of treaties, agreements and arrangements signed between the governments and localities of the two countries, in order to bring economic, trade and investment cooperation commensurate with the good political cooperation.
Agreeing with the Lao Prime Minister's assessments and proposals on the relationship between the two countries and the two National Assemblies, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will continue to closely coordinate with the Lao National Assembly in creating a favorable legal corridor for the two Governments to effectively implement the High-level Agreements of the two Politburoes; strengthen coordination in supervising the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the two Governments; promote the improvement of institutions and policies to facilitate the implementation of investment cooperation projects between the two countries as well as the contents agreed upon by the two Governments.
The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two countries increase information exchange and share experiences on new issues in socio-economic development, ensure macroeconomic stability, expand foreign relations and improve the effectiveness of international integration; and share experiences in resolving difficulties.
In addition, the National Assembly Chairman said it is necessary to further strengthen the pillar of cooperation in defense and security to effectively deal with traditional and non-traditional security challenges; build a peaceful, friendly, stable and sustainably developed Vietnam-Laos border; and closely cooperate in preventing transnational crimes, especially drug crimes.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed promoting, creating breakthroughs, and improving the effectiveness of cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, health, science and technology on the basis of promoting the potential and strengths of each country; continuing to pay attention to and support the activities of Vietnamese enterprises in investment activities in Laos; encouraging localities of the two countries to strengthen cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, investment, and trade; and strengthening close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the results of bilateral cooperation in the past and the direction of cooperation in the future.
The Lao Prime Minister suggested that the two National Assemblies continue to promote their important roles in building laws and institutions; coordinate to supervise and promote the implementation of other agreements signed between the two countries./.
