(QBĐT) - Colonel Ngo Minh Dien, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command, shared: The year 2024 marked many remarkable marks of the Border Guard force on the two border lines, both firmly protecting border security and sovereignty, and making practical and effective contributions to socio-economic development.

According to Colonel Ngo Minh Dien, the important milestones are: Maintaining strict implementation of border management agreements and regulations, strengthening patrols, controlling and protecting the status quo of the border system and national border markers. The Border Guard force is intelligent and brave, achieving many outstanding achievements in the fight against crime; promoting and strengthening border diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to building and consolidating the relationship of solidarity, friendship, cooperation and development in the two border areas.

The work of propaganda, dissemination and legal education has been applied flexibly and creatively with diverse forms and rich content suitable for each locality; effectively implementing programs and models to help people develop socio-economy; building increasingly strong border areas. The program "Helping children go to school", "Adopted children of Border Guard Station", the project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school" has achieved many outstanding results. The provincial Border Guard force has always been proactive and taken the lead in performing the task of helping people prevent and combat natural disasters, search and rescue; and fighting against IUU fishing in depth, substantially and effectively.

The Provincial Border Guard Command promptly completed the documentary film "65 years of border protection", published the book "Chronicle of events of the Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard in the period 2014-2024" and the collection "Walking along the border"...

For the first time, the Provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with the Military Command of Khammouane Province (Laos) and district and commune authorities on both sides of the border to organize bilateral patrols. In 2024, 28 bilateral patrols were conducted with the participation of 355 officers and soldiers and 38 leaders and people on both sides of the border.

The provincial Border Guard proactively and actively coordinated with departments, branches, sectors and localities to advise the provincial People's Committee to direct and successfully organize the signing of the agreement between the residential clusters on both sides of the border between Thuong Trach commune (Bo Trach) and Noong Ma cluster, Bua La Pha district, Kham Muon province (Laos) and the signing of the agreement between the two Border Posts of Lang Ho and Lang Mo with Company 317, Kham Muon provincial Military Command. Through the twinning activities, resources were mobilized to build civil works, support livelihoods, organize medical examinations and treatment, provide free medicine, and give gifts to poor households and students in difficult circumstances with a total value of 4.3 billion VND, leaving many impressions and deep feelings between officers, soldiers and people on both sides of the border.

With the achievements, the Border Guard High Command awarded the emulation flag in the emulation movement "Determined to Win" for the period 2019-2024 to the Provincial Border Guard Command; many collectives and individuals were commended by the Ministry of National Defense, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and all levels.

In the emulation movement "Skilled Civil Affairs", the Border Guard force implemented models suitable for each unit and locality. The program "Saturday back to the village" mobilized resources to build and hand over 6 "Border Light" projects; 5 "Border Welcome Gates" projects; 13 "Community Toilets" projects; 2 "House Floor Hardening" projects; 5 clean water projects; 5 "Border Machine Sounds" models; 83 "Great Unity" houses, "Warm Houses", "Housing in Religious Areas", "Happy Houses"; presented over 10,365 gifts to people and students in difficult circumstances in border areas.

In addition, the units also actively guide people in livestock and crop farming techniques; propagate the elimination of backward customs; environmental sanitation, house repair for poor households; free haircuts, health check-ups and consultations, free medicine distribution, etc. The total value of the activities is nearly 21 billion VND, contributing to helping people develop the economy and build new rural areas.

The Border Guard's "Border Light" model is increasingly spreading, affirming its effectiveness with 112 completed projects (including 3 projects donated to the people of Laos), with a total construction cost of nearly 5.8 billion VND. The Border Guard Command selected it as a typical model and replicated it throughout the force. The Central Propaganda Department honored it as a typical example in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in the provinces of the Central Highlands region.
