At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated comrade Khamphao Ernthavanh on his appointment as Lao Ambassador to Vietnam and congratulated Laos on its recent socio-economic development achievements; emphasizing that Vietnam and Laos have a special relationship, a precious and priceless asset that every citizen of the two countries has the responsibility to preserve, constantly cultivate and develop.

The Party, State and people of Vietnam always attach importance to and give the highest priority to consolidating and enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, and continue to support Laos to the best of their ability in the spirit of respecting Laos' independence and sovereignty.

Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh expressed his honor to assume the role of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR to Vietnam; thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for always standing side by side and wholeheartedly supporting the Party, State and people of Laos throughout the struggle for national independence as well as the protection and construction of the country today.

Acknowledging the Ambassador's comments on making every effort to contribute to promoting the development of the bilateral cooperative relationship, making it increasingly fruitful and sustainable, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the two sides need to effectively implement high-level agreements and bilateral cooperation mechanisms, especially the results of the meeting between the two Parties and the 46th Session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee recently, increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, promote exchange activities and promote the precious traditions and unique relationship between Vietnam and Laos among the people of the two countries, especially the younger generations, about the precious traditions and unique relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The Prime Minister hopes that the two countries' authorities will coordinate better and resolve difficulties to develop economic, trade and investment cooperation commensurate with the trustful and close political relationship between the two countries, focusing on accelerating the progress of strategic cooperation projects, projects connecting transport and energy infrastructure; cooperating in human resource training, promoting bilateral trade turnover and investment activities; creating conditions for businesses of the two countries to increase mutual investment; strengthening cooperation between localities, especially border localities; proactively coordinating, sharing information, and supporting each other at international and regional forums.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will continue to support Laos to successfully assume the role of ASEAN Chair 2024 and Chair of AIPA 45, together making efforts to maintain ASEAN's solidarity and central role, promote Community building and effectively respond to common challenges.

On the occasion of the Lao traditional New Year 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent New Year greetings to the Ambassador and through the Ambassador, conveyed his regards and congratulations to General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone (and other high-ranking Lao leaders).
