This newly launched award aims to honor outstanding works/products of domestic and international authors and groups of authors, vividly and objectively affirming the achievements that Vietnam has made in the field of protecting and promoting human rights.

On February 10, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung decided to organize the annual Media Award on Human Rights. This award is chaired by the Ministry of Information and Communications, in coordination with relevant ministries and branches, and is launched and organized annually.
The award aims to widely communicate Vietnam's efforts and achievements in protecting and promoting human rights. The award is expected to strengthen the connection between agencies, units and localities; mobilize the combined strength of all classes of people in the country, the overseas Vietnamese community and international friends in communication work on human rights, thereby maximizing the proactiveness and positivity of the forces and improving the effectiveness of external communication work on human rights.
By honoring outstanding works/products of domestic and international authors and groups of authors, the award vividly and objectively affirms the achievements that Vietnam has made in the field of protecting and promoting human rights. Thereby, creating a rich and quality data source to serve the country's external communication activities in the long term.
All Vietnamese and foreign citizens (from 15 years old) can submit their works. The award considers and awards works/media products in the categories: photos; video clips and will continue to expand to other types of media.
The works must be highly promotional, meeting the criteria of artistic quality, from content to form of expression must not violate Vietnamese customs and laws. The works/products must ensure legality, not violate the Copyright Law, Intellectual Property Law and other legal regulations.
The Organizing Committee encourages the application of modern information and communication technology to create good communication effects for the public.
The works/products considered for the award are typical and meet the highest selection criteria of the Award, and have a wide influence domestically and internationally. The priority criteria for the award are to effectively serve foreign information work, including: Conveying valuable knowledge about human rights, attracting the attention of the public and having a wide influence domestically and internationally; Reflecting truthfully and vividly the efforts and achievements of Vietnam in ensuring and promoting human rights in Vietnam through the image of people enjoying legitimate rights and interests and an independent, free, happy and developed Vietnam; achievements in all aspects of Vietnam's political, economic, cultural and social life, especially in the process of innovation, development and international integration; affirming Vietnam's role and contribution to promoting human rights internationally.
The Award structure includes: First prize, Second prize, Third prize, Encouragement prize and prizes awarded to localities with the most works participating in the contest; localities with the most works winning First prize.

The announcement and award ceremony is expected to be held in the fourth quarter of each year and broadcast live on television channels and digital platforms as selected by the Organizing Committee.
