Vietnam affirms its potential on the artificial intelligence map
Artificial intelligence (AI) is not only a trend but also a core driving force for global economic and social development. Advanced AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing (NLP) and generative AI are gradually penetrating every industry, from healthcare, education to energy and manufacturing.
Recently, Vietnam has gradually demonstrated its outstanding potential to become one of the AI centers in Southeast Asia. The signing of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Planning and Investment and Nvidia to build two AI centers on December 5, 2024, witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, is not only an important event but also marks a strategic step forward in the country's technology roadmap.

Mr. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, emphasized: “Vietnam is not only a potential partner but also an important hub for us to expand AI initiatives in the region.”
Special advantages in AI development
Vietnam possesses many unique advantages that help the country quickly catch up and participate more deeply in the AI technology revolution.
A young and dynamic workforce is an important factor. With one of the highest youth population ratios in the region, Vietnam has a workforce that is tech-savvy and ready to acquire new skills in the field of artificial intelligence. According to Mr. Truong Gia Binh - Chairman of FPT, "Vietnam has a technology workforce that many countries cannot even dream of having. It is no coincidence that Nvidia chose Vietnam as a second home for its AI initiatives."
In addition, Vietnam's digital economy is growing strongly, with support from the government through preferential policies and a national strategy on AI. This strategy aims to put Vietnam in the top 50 countries leading in AI research and application by 2030, creating a solid foundation to attract major partners in the world.
Artificial Intelligence in Practice
Artificial intelligence in Vietnam is not only limited to research but has been deployed in real life and brought about encouraging results in many fields.
In renewable energy, AI is being used to find and optimize new materials for solar cells, increasing energy conversion efficiency and reducing manufacturing costs. Experts are developing solutions that combine silicon and advanced materials such as perovskite to increase energy conversion efficiency, aiming for green and sustainable development.

In education, AI is applied to create more effective learning and management support tools, bringing clear benefits in personalizing teaching methods and managing student data. According to experts, applying AI in education is an inevitable step to improve the quality of human resources in the digital age.
In addition, large technology enterprises in Vietnam such as FPT, Viettel and startups such as ELSA, Vbee are also leading in deploying practical AI applications. These initiatives not only bring economic value but also help improve the quality of life for people.
Platform for technological innovation in Vietnam
The development of artificial intelligence cannot be separated from modern technology infrastructure. According to Mr. Mai Hai Duong, Director of Infrastructure Products at VNG Cloud, “The current trend is the shift from physical infrastructure to virtualization, cloud computing and continuing to move towards artificial intelligence. AI is becoming a new standard, requiring suitable infrastructure based not only on basic hardware but also on GPUs and platforms that support effective model training”.
Other large technology companies in Vietnam are ready to meet this demand, developing advanced infrastructure solutions to best support AI applications in businesses. Modern infrastructure not only helps AI to be deployed more effectively but also creates the premise for Vietnam to improve its competitiveness in the international market.
Despite facing challenges in infrastructure and skills gaps, Vietnam is taking strategic steps to turn AI into a driving force for sustainable development. “In the AI era, Vietnam will not only participate but also lead in many fields, becoming a destination for large technology corporations to innovate and expand,” Mr. Truong Gia Binh (FPT) confidently shared.
With careful preparation and strategic vision, Vietnam is gradually affirming its position in the era of artificial intelligence, not only as a place to receive technology but also as a center of innovation and creativity.
