Ha Tinh Telecommunications: Promoting connectivity for socio-economic development
By 2024, Ha Tinh has made significant progress in developing its telecommunications network, however, telecommunications infrastructure in some remote areas of the province is still limited.
Mobile network : Major carriers such as Viettel, MobiFone and Vinaphone have covered the entire province. According to 2024 data, the province's mobile coverage rate reached 98%, of which 4G network covered 85% of communes and towns. Coastal districts such as Ky Anh, Cam Xuyen, Nghi Xuan have full 4G network, however, in some mountainous districts such as Huong Son, Vu Quang, 4G network is only available in about 60% of communes.
Broadband Internet : Ha Tinh has deployed fiber optic networks to many communes, especially in Ha Tinh city and district towns. By 2024, the broadband Internet connection rate in the whole province will reach about 70%. However, many mountainous and rural areas still do not have stable Internet connections. According to statistics, only 40% of households in mountainous communes have broadband Internet connections.
Mobile telecommunications and Internet services : Mobile telecommunications services in Ha Tinh have developed strongly, especially in providing calling, texting and mobile Internet access services. However, Internet connection speed in some rural areas has not yet met users' requirements, especially in the context of an increasingly growing digital economy.
Challenges in telecommunications development in Ha Tinh
Although Ha Tinh has made great strides in developing telecommunications, the province still faces many major challenges in completing telecommunications infrastructure and improving service quality.
Mountainous and remote terrain : Ha Tinh has a large area with many mountainous areas and inconvenient transportation infrastructure, especially in mountainous districts such as Huong Son, Vu Quang, Ky Anh. This makes it difficult to deploy broadcasting stations and fiber optic cables to highland communes. Telecommunications projects here often face geographical difficulties, increasing costs and construction time.
Limited investment funds : Although large telecommunications enterprises such as Viettel, MobiFone and Vinaphone have invested heavily in Ha Tinh, the expansion of telecommunications networks in remote areas still requires strong support from the state budget. Ha Tinh is a province with economic difficulties, making investment resources for telecommunications infrastructure development not strong enough to meet the needs of the entire community.
Lack of highly skilled human resources : One of the difficult problems in telecommunications development in Ha Tinh is the lack of highly skilled human resources in the fields of engineering and telecommunications system operation. This makes it difficult for telecommunications companies to deploy and maintain broadcasting stations, especially in mountainous and remote areas.
Telecommunications development solutions in Ha Tinh
To overcome current difficulties and challenges, Ha Tinh is implementing many solutions to develop telecommunications infrastructure, thereby promoting digital economic development and improving people's quality of life.
Expanding 4G coverage and deploying 5G : Ha Tinh is prioritizing the expansion of the 4G network in remote districts and communes, especially areas with high demand for Internet and telecommunications services. It is expected that by the end of 2024, the 4G coverage rate in Ha Tinh will reach about 90%, and some areas such as Ha Tinh city and Ky Anh district will begin testing 5G.
Promoting the development of broadband Internet : Ha Tinh is also actively deploying fiber optic cables to remote communes. The province will continue to support telecommunications enterprises to invest in areas without stable Internet connections. It is expected that in 2024, the rate of broadband Internet connection will increase by 10%, helping to improve service quality and information connection between regions.
Training technicians and increasing resources : Ha Tinh provincial government is coordinating with telecommunications enterprises, universities and training centers to increase the human resources of technicians for the telecommunications industry. Training programs on network engineering and telecommunications system operation will be held regularly, helping local people and technicians to meet the increasing demands of the industry.
Strengthening policies to support telecommunications enterprises : Ha Tinh province has been implementing preferential policies on land, taxes and other supports to encourage telecommunications enterprises to invest in disadvantaged areas. These supports will help reduce the burden of investment costs, thereby accelerating the progress of telecommunications network deployment in remote areas.
