On the afternoon of March 6, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced the list of U22 Vietnam participating in CFA Team China 2024. Fans were somewhat surprised when Dong A Thanh Hoa did not have any players called up for this round. The Thanh team often fielded many young players such as Le Van Thuan (2006), Ha Chau Phi (2003), Truong Thanh Nam (2004) or Doan Ngoc Ha (2004), Nguyen Ngoc My (2004).
In particular, Nguyen Ngoc My left a strong impression when he scored 2 goals in 8 appearances for Dong A Thanh Hoa this season. He possesses impressive personal skills, the ability to shield the ball and shoot well. Ngoc My brought more options to Coach Popov when he was still at Thanh Hoa Club.

In fact, coach Kim Sang-sik had intended to call up Nguyen Ngoc My. However, this striker was injured in the National Cup match against Hai Phong. He severely sprained his ankle and had to leave the field even though the match had only been over 20 minutes. VFF doctors contacted directly with the medical department of Thanh Hoa Club and confirmed that Ngoc My would not recover from her injury in time for this training session.
In addition, Chau Phi and Thanh Nam have not played much despite leaving a good impression in terms of expertise. The case of Doan Ngoc Ha makes many people regret. He had his first match in V.League 3 seasons ago - when he was only 18 years old. This year, Ngoc Ha played well but it seems that this midfielder's style is not suitable for coach Kim Sang-sik's football philosophy.
Of course, U22 Vietnam will gather more times and there are still opportunities for the young talent born in 2004, as long as he maintains his form.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U22 team will gather again on March 10 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. CFA Team China 2025 will take place from March 20 to March 25. Vietnam U22 will meet Korea (March 20), China (March 23) and Uzbekistan (March 25).
