After Tet, Bac Lieu has about 3,000 students who have not returned to school. What did the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Lieu province say?
On the afternoon of February 6, Mr. Duong Hong Tan, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Lieu province, said that up to now, the province still has 2,586/160,090 preschool and primary school students of all levels who have not returned to school after the Lunar New Year holiday (equivalent to 1.6%).
Of which, the majority of out-of-school students are in preschool with 1,460 children, followed by junior high school with 627 students, high school with 245 students, and the remaining few are in primary school and continuing education.
The main reason was determined to be the change in weather, many children were sick so their parents did not send them to school, while some followed their parents back to their hometown and could not return after Tet.
In particular, many students returned to school on February 3, 4 and 5 but were absent today due to illness.
According to Mr. Tan, due to a mistake, initially there was information that more than 3,400 students in the province had not returned to school after the Tet holiday, but in reality there were only approximately 3,000 students.
"3,000 students absent is also at a normal level as before Tet because every day a number of students are absent due to illness or family matters. Moreover, the weather this Tet is quite unusual so many preschool and primary school children are sick. Most of them are contagious diseases so parents do not dare to send their children to school. So far, the situation has stabilized," said Mr. Tan.
