With the desire to have no more pesticide shells in the fields, for a safe, sustainable agriculture, a green - clean - beautiful rural environment, in 2024, the Farmers' Association of Duc Bac commune (Song Lo) launched the model "Field without pesticide shells" in the commune's flower and ornamental plant growing craft village.
On nearly 30 hectares of ornamental plants, the craft village has built 15 waste tanks, each with a capacity of 1 m3, which can collect many types of agricultural waste. This waste is then transported to a specialized treatment facility, ensuring strict compliance with environmental protection procedures.
Previously, in the craft village, people had the habit of throwing away pesticide bottles and packaging indiscriminately in the fields, which had a significant impact on the environment and landscape. By participating in the model and attending the propaganda and mobilization sessions of the Commune Farmers' Association, the craft village households have better understood the benefits of collecting pesticide bottles, pesticide containers and other agricultural waste. To date, the model has attracted 40 members to participate, regularly organizing the collection and classification of waste in the fields.
Mr. Bui Manh Cuong, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Duc Bac commune, said: "With the benefits it brings, the model not only helps to significantly improve the landscape of the fields in the direction of green - clean - beautiful, protect irrigation water sources, improve the quality of cultivated land, but also contributes to protecting people's health and developing agriculture in a sustainable direction."
The effectiveness of the "Pesticide-free Field" model in Duc Bac commune has been spreading strongly to many localities in Song Lo district, contributing to protecting the rural environment associated with effective agricultural economic development.
Contributing to the movement of Joining hands to build new rural areas in the whole province, creating livable countrysides, since 2017, the Provincial Farmers' Association has launched the emulation movement "Vinh Phuc farmers for a safe and sustainable agriculture; green - clean - beautiful rural environment" to all cadres and members with many specific activities, such as organizing "Vinh Phuc farmers' day for the environment", launching environmental sanitation on the 25th of every month; building and replicating the model "Fields without pesticide shells" equipped with 1,849 pesticide shell tanks installed in 50 communes, wards and towns in the province...
After 8 years of implementation, many good models and creative ways have appeared in the province at all levels of the association such as: "Cleaning from the house to the alley, from the alley to the house" model of the Farmers' Association of Vinh Tuong district; linking and producing safe agriculture on a scale of 5 hectares of a group of farmers in Dinh Trung ward (Vinh Yen); model of growing green asparagus according to VietGAP process, eco-tourism in Ngoc Thanh commune (Phuc Yen) or the livestock farming model "4 no - 2 clean" (no lean meat, no growth stimulants, no antibiotic abuse, no use of banned substances; clean livestock, clean barns in Lang Cong commune (Song Lo)...
Through these models, the province's agricultural production is increasingly innovated towards increasing added value and being environmentally friendly; the rural landscape becomes green - clean - beautiful; and the quality of life of rural people is increasingly improved.
To date, the province has 28 models of chains linking production and consumption of safe agricultural, forestry and fishery products; nearly 300 pig and chicken farms applying high technology in production; 95 cow, pig and chicken farms applying good agricultural production practices, ensuring food safety and traceability. In 2024, the income of people in rural areas will reach 63 million VND/person, an increase of 3 million VND compared to 2023.
Promoting the achieved results, the relevant agencies continue to support people in applying safe agricultural production measures, promoting mechanization, cooperation and association in production and consumption of agricultural products, linking production with market demand, and developing green agriculture.
Farmers' Associations at all levels mobilize members to regularly participate in environmental sanitation movements; organize activities to collect and classify waste in the fields, reduce environmental pollution, build advanced and exemplary new rural areas, and create livable countrysides.
