A memorial service for 3 members of HAGL Club took place before the matches on the afternoon of August 13.

At 2:00 p.m. on August 12, an accident killed three members of the HAGL Club, including assistant Duong Minh Ninh, doctor Dao Trong Tri, and striker Paollo Madeira Oliveira, on National Highway 14, passing through Ia Hru commune, Chu Puh district, Gia Lai.

At that time, a car carrying 4 members of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club was on its way from Buon Ma Thuot city (Dak Lak) to Pleiku (Gia Lai) when it had an accident.

According to initial investigation, the dump truck with license plate 81H-027.60 driven by Dinh Tien Binh overtook the car carrying HAGL members. After discovering a car coming from the opposite direction, driver Binh turned the wheel, crashed into the left side of the car and caused the accident.

In his condolence letter, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan wrote: “The Vietnam Football Federation is deeply saddened to receive the news that Deputy Director, Deputy Head Coach of Team 1 Duong Minh Ninh, Doctor Dao Trong Tri and player Madeira Oliveira Paollo died in this tragic accident. The club’s driver is currently receiving emergency treatment at the hospital.
