Gold bar and gold ring prices today (December 22): Gold ring and jewelry prices of all kinds decreased but with a narrower amplitude compared to the downward trend of gold bars.
At the time of survey at 10:30 a.m. on December 22, 2024, the price of gold bars on the trading floors of some companies continued to move sideways.
The price of SJC gold was listed by Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) at 81.8 million VND/tael, sold at 83.8 million VND/tael, down 2.5 million VND/tael compared to the end of last week. The difference between the buying price and the selling price is 2.0 million VND.
Meanwhile, the price of gold rings and jewelry of all kinds decreased but with a narrower amplitude compared to the downward trend of gold bars. SJC Company traded the price of 99.99 gold rings at around VND81.8 million/tael for buying and VND83.6 million/tael for selling, down about VND1.1 million/tael compared to the end of last week.
PNJ and DOJI companies traded 99.99 gold rings at higher prices, around 83.4 million VND/tael for buying and 84.4 million VND/tael for selling.
The difference in selling price between businesses is up to millions of VND/tael.

The world gold price closed the trading week at 2,623 USD/ounce, down about 25 USD/ounce (equivalent to about 750,000 VND/tael) compared to the end of last week. During the week, the precious metal also had a week of strong fluctuations, when at times it fell below the 2,600 USD/ounce mark after the US Federal Reserve (FED) cut interest rates by 0.25% for the third time this year, but also revealed that there would be fewer interest rate adjustments in 2025.
This development caused the USD to maintain a strong upward momentum, at times surpassing 108 points - the highest level in the past 2 years, causing pressure to reduce gold prices.
The main reasons are the buying power of central banks, the wave of interest rate cuts and the need for shelter amid global geopolitical instability. The gold rush has slowed since early November when Donald Trump was re-elected as US President, causing the USD price to increase sharply.
Last week, the Fed officially cut interest rates by another 0.25% to a range of 4.25% - 4.5%. The Fed expects to cut interest rates a total of 0.5% by the end of 2025 due to a strong labor market and slowing inflation.
According to the US report, the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index in November increased by only 0.1% compared to the previous month and increased by 2.4% compared to the same period last year. Excluding food and energy, the core PCE index also increased by 0.1% compared to the previous month and increased by 2.8% compared to the same period last year.
Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee said the latest inflation data provided optimism, adding that interest rates could still fall next year despite the Fed's cautious stance.
Analysts note that gold could face challenges in this environment and year-end holiday trading.
