The village of Andriivka, south of Bakhmut, has been the scene of the fiercest and longest fighting since the conflict began in February last year. The Ukrainian General Staff also reported “partial success” near Klishchiivka, a village also south of Bakhmut.

“The capture and holding of Andriivka is the path to the breakthrough on the right flank of Bakhmut and the key to the success of the entire further offensive,” said the 3rd Shock Brigade participating in the offensive.

Brigade spokesman Oleksandr Borodin said Ukraine was moving cautiously in the area to minimize losses from mines and "very strong" Russian defenses.

Besides counterattacking on the Eastern front, Ukraine is still continuing its sabotage attack tactics deep into Russian territories and especially the Crimean peninsula in the South.

In the latest development, Ukraine said one of its unmanned attack vessels at sea damaged a small Russian missile boat off the coast of Crimea.

Specifically, a Ukrainian intelligence source said they attacked the right rear part of the Russian small missile boat "Samum" on Thursday at the entrance to Crimea's Sevastopol Bay and caused "significant damage."

However, Russia said it repelled the attack. Specifically, the Russian Defense Ministry reported a Ukrainian attack on the Samum in a statement on Thursday, saying the attack was repelled and the Ukrainian drone was destroyed.

Russia also said earlier that it had thwarted most of Ukraine's missile and UAV attacks on its Black Sea Fleet and military vessels in the area, although it also confirmed some losses.
