“ The current war cannot end without holding Russia accountable ,” Podolyak commented on the peace plan recently put forward by two key advisers to former President Donald Trump.
According to an adviser to President Zelensky, freezing the war, now in its 28th month, on the current frontline would be "unusual" because Russia has violated international law and is present on Ukrainian territory.
" Ukraine has an absolutely clear position and this was clearly stated in the peace formula proposed by President Zelensky, that peace must be fair and peace can only be based on international law ," Podolyak stressed.

Mr. Podolyak also reiterated Ukraine's stance, rejecting the ceasefire conditions proposed by President Putin as unreasonable. "We know Mr. Putin's proposal. It is absolutely absurd," Mr. Podolyak added.
Earlier, Keith Kellogg and Fred Fleitz, two key advisers to Mr. Trump, presented the former US President with a plan to end the conflict if he won the presidency. This plan included declaring to Ukraine that they would only receive more US weapons if they entered into peace negotiations.
At the same time, the US will warn Russia that any refusal to negotiate will lead to Washington increasing its support for Kiev. According to the plan, there will be a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine based on the current front lines in the peace talks.
Ukraine should not formally cede territory to Russia, even though Kiev is unlikely to regain control of the entire territory in the short term, Fleitz said. He also noted that “peace” would require providing Kiev with additional security guarantees, including arms supplies.
This can be considered the most detailed plan ever from Mr. Trump's associates. He has repeatedly stated that he could end the Russia-Ukraine conflict within 24 hours if he is re-elected president.
Meanwhile, on the Russian side, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that negotiations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine should begin with a clear plan.
" It needs to be a clear start. I mean there shouldn't be any pre-prepared terms put forward by the West. Or let them give us some real picture of how the West views conflict resolution ," Lavrov pointed out.
