In the previous two matches, U16 Japan drew 1-1 with Uzbekistan and won 2-1 with China. Entering the match with high determination, U16 Vietnam created a big surprise when scoring the opening goal in the 16th minute. Van Bach tapped the ball in from close range after a cross from his teammate, leaving the U16 Japan goalkeeper helpless. Despite facing a strong opponent, U16 Vietnam had a good game. In the 32nd minute, Xuan Tin cleared the ball on the goal line to help U16 Vietnam avoid a goal.
