Seoul on December 30 recorded the heaviest snowfall in December since 1981, causing traffic problems in the South Korean capital.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said 12.2 centimeters of snow fell in Seoul on December 30. This is the highest level in the last month of the year since December 19, 1981, when 18.3 centimeters of snow fell.

Heavy snowfall has affected traffic in Seoul, with several minor crashes reported across the city. Some roads were partially closed or restricted to traffic. The Seoul government said it had deployed nearly 4,700 people and more than 1,200 pieces of equipment to clear the snow.
A heavy snowfall warning has been issued for all of Seoul and parts of Gyeonggi Province and Gangwon Province east of the capital, according to the KMA. The warning is triggered when 5 centimeters (2 inches) or more of snow is forecast to fall within 24 hours.
South Korean authorities lifted the warning at 4 p.m. on December 30, only applying to Gangwon. However, the KMA noted that heavy snow could return to Seoul as snow clouds continue to move inland from the Yellow Sea.
