Vietnam bodybuilding team goes to Nepal to attend 2023 Asian tournament

Without two key members, Pham Van Mach and K'Tuyen, at the last minute due to not recovering from injuries, the Vietnamese team still sent a large force of 27 members, including 18 athletes, to participate in the 55th Asian Bodybuilding Championship - 2023 taking place in Nepal from September 1 to 7.

The continental playground takes place in the first week of September.

This is the biggest trip for Vietnamese bodybuilding since winning the overall title at the 31st SEA Games held at home last year. In addition to the reigning women's 55kg champion Dinh Kim Loan and the reigning mixed doubles champion Bui Thi Thoa - Tran Hoang Duy Thuan, the Vietnamese team this time also has many talented faces who have achieved high international achievements such as Nguyen Thi Kim Cuong, Bui Dac Phi Vu, Nguyen Thanh Tien...

The most notable member of the Vietnamese team this time is the return of former national champion Le Thi Huong Giang. Having retired nearly 20 years ago to switch to coaching, she returned to the ring at the age of 48 with many goals.

Competing in many events, the Vietnamese team aims to successfully defend the 3 championship titles (1 in the youth men's event) won at the 2022 tournament in the Maldives.

The Department of Sports and Physical Training has issued a decision to call up and send a national team of 18 athletes to compete in the 2023 Asian Championship held in Nepal. The tournament will feature nearly 200 strong athletes from 25 countries and territories. It is expected that there will be fierce competition in each weight class, creating the premise for the world championship taking place in mid-December in Korea.
