Traffic police forces at all levels will deploy and handle synchronously according to their assigned functions, tasks, routes and railway areas. The implementation process is regular, continuous, strict, flexible with a determined spirit to create positive changes in awareness and compliance of people living along the railway; at the same time, detect existing problems and inadequacies to propose measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of management work.
The goal is to prevent and limit railway accidents; promote propaganda to people about regulations; attach responsibility to local authorities and organizations along the railway in organizing and mobilizing people not to encroach on safety corridors, conduct business, hold markets within the railway, open illegal passages, etc., thereby voluntarily correcting violations.
Strictly handle violations such as: Failure to comply with regulations on stopping, parking, turning around, reversing at railway level crossings, failure to implement safety measures as prescribed when the vehicle breaks down on a road section intersecting at the same level as a railway. Violation of regulations on ensuring railway traffic safety, protecting railway works, construction works, exploiting resources and other activities in the vicinity of railway safety zones...
Traffic police also arrange forces to take charge, participate in closing barriers, and remove self-made paths. In cases where they cannot be cleared or removed, they must recommend that local authorities immediately set up guards and checkpoints to prevent accidents.
In 2024, the Traffic Police focused on drastically and effectively handling violations of corridors and self-opened paths on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line. Thereby, advising, proposing and directly clearing 10 violations of railway safety corridors, eliminating 238 self-opened paths.
From August 15, 2024 to December 31, 2024, there were 22 accidents on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line, killing 12 people and injuring 9 people. Compared to the same period, there were 35 fewer accidents (61.4%), 25 fewer deaths (71.4%) and 11 fewer injuries (55%).
