On February 21, the Gifted High School (VNU-HCM) announced the exam structure and sample exam questions for the 2025-2026 school year.
In order to help students best prepare for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, the Gifted High School (VNU-HCMC) announced the exam structure and sample exam questions for 10 specialized and non-specialized subjects.
The school representative informed that this year, the first batch of students following the 2018 general education program will take the 10th grade entrance exam. Therefore, this is to help them get familiar with the type of exercises, thereby having appropriate review methods.

Accordingly, for non-math , the exam includes Multiple Choice (10 questions, total from 1.5 to 3 points), Essay (5 questions, total from 7 to 8.5 points). Time to complete the exam is 120 minutes.
Non-major Literature is divided into 4 parts: Reading comprehension - multiple choice (5 to 6 questions, 2.5 points); reading comprehension - essay (2 to 3 questions, total 1.5 points); writing a paragraph (1 question, total 2 points); writing an essay (1 question, total 4 points). Time to do the test is 100 minutes.
Subject structure Non-major English includes: Multiple choice (35 questions, total 7 points); essay (15 questions, total 3 points). Time to complete the test is 60 minutes.
Specialized Mathematics is divided into 4 parts. Including: Algebra (2 questions, total 3.5 to 4.5 points); Geometry (1 question, total 3 to 3.5 points); Arithmetic (1 question, total 1.5 to 2 points); Combinations (1 question, total 1.5 to 2 points). Time to do the test is 150 minutes.
The specialized Literature subject is divided into 2 parts. Part 1, write a social argumentative essay (1 sentence, 4 points); Part 2, write a literary argumentative essay (1 sentence, 6 points). The test time is 150 minutes.
For the specialized English subject, there are sections: Language use (80 questions, total 4 points); reading (25 questions, total 2.5 points); writing (25 questions, total 3.5 points). Test time is 150 minutes.
Subject Computer Science is divided into 4 parts: Basic programming techniques (1 question, 2.5 points); basic algorithms (1 question, 2.5 points); advanced programming techniques and basic data structures (1 question, 2.5 points); advanced programming techniques and algorithms (1 question, 2.5 points). Time limit: 150 minutes.
Physics is divided into 5 parts, including: Mechanics (1 question, total from 1.5-3 points); thermodynamics (1 question, total from 1.5-3 points); electricity and electromagnetic induction (1 question, total from 1.5-3 points). Optics (1 question, total from 1.5-3.0 points); general knowledge (if any, it will include 1 question, from 0 to 2 points). Time to do the test is 150 minutes.
In particular, Chemistry only has an essay section (7 to 8 questions; total 1-2 points/question). Total test time is 150 minutes.
Biology is also divided into 5 parts. Including: Cells, biodiversity (1 to 2 questions, total from 1 to 2 points); plant biology (1 to 2 questions, total from 2.0 points); animal biology (1 to 2 questions, from 2 to 3 points); ecology (1 to 2 questions, total from 1.5 to 2.0 points); genetics (1 to 2 questions, total from 2 to 3 points).
The Gifted High School was established in 1996 and is a specialized school under the Ho Chi Minh City National University. This is the only school in Ho Chi Minh City that organizes its own entrance exam, independent of the 10th grade entrance exam of the Department of Education and Training.
Last year, the school enrolled 595 students, with a benchmark score of 23.5-33.75/40.
