On the morning of February 22, Chairman of Duc Pho Town People's Committee Bui Van Ly confirmed with Dan Viet reporter that he had urgently requested construction of a project to repair landslides on Tra Cau riverbank, through Pho Minh ward.

This is a multi-purpose project that both overcomes landslides and damage; clears the flow and increases flood drainage capacity; reduces flooding during heavy rains to protect the safety of 25 households/68 people in residential group 1, Pho Minh ward.
After completing the project to repair the landslides on Tra Cau riverbank, the traffic route and some technical and public infrastructure located in this area will also be protected.
The embankment project will be built on the Tra Cau river bank, located in Pho Minh - Pho Van wards, with a total length of about 2,100m (from Pho Minh pumping station - Thuy Trieu bridge), reinforced concrete structure, with protective steel railings along the embankment....
This is a new construction project with a total estimated capital of about 80 billion VND, including the provincial budget and local budget; implementation period is 2024 - 2025.

It is known that during the heavy rains that occurred in November 2024, floodwaters overflowed the banks of the Tra Cau River, causing serious landslides and erosion, and flooding hundreds of houses from 0.5 to 1.7 meters; causing damage and landslides in many sections of embankment infrastructure and concrete roads in residential group 1, Pho Minh.

In particular, the damage and landslides have directly affected and threatened 25 households/68 people and many other houses along the riverbank of residential group 1, Pho Minh ward.
During the site inspection in early December 2024, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Quang Ngai Province, Bui Thi Quynh Van, requested Duc Pho Town to reassess the entire situation, risks, and level of landslides on the banks of the Tra Cau River.

Develop a master plan for regulating Tra Cau River and flood drainage to Thoa River for both phases; calculate the number of households affected when implementing phase 1 of the project to submit to competent authorities for consideration and direction of handling.
