On the morning of February 22, more than 2,000 people walked with the Can Tho City health sector with the message 'Can Tho health sector - 70 years following Uncle Ho's teachings' and 'Walking towards poor patients'.

More than 2,000 people participated in the walk, including leaders of Can Tho City, health workers, many businesses, agencies, departments and organizations, and thousands of students. This is an activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day of Can Tho health sector.
At the launching ceremony of the walk, Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Quoc Cuong - Director of the Department of Health of Can Tho City, emphasized that in recent years, the city's health sector has made efforts to overcome difficulties, strengthen the health system, and improve the quality of medical examination and treatment.
In particular, in 2024, from the funding source to support grassroots health care mobilized from the walking activities towards grassroots health care, Can Tho Department of Health supported the implementation of many family doctor models at commune health stations in Vinh Thanh district, Thot Not district and Cai Rang district.
And by launching the walk on February 27 this year, the Can Tho health sector aims to call for contributions and support for poor patients and those with difficult family economic circumstances who need the help of society.
"On this occasion, I call on the whole community's tradition of charity, with the spirit of "The whole leaf covers the torn leaf", all delegates present in this journey, as well as individuals, units, and businesses, to act as a united effort, to join hands to support poor patients to have a happy life", Mr. Cuong said.
After the campaign, according to information from the Can Tho City Department of Health, the unit has received more than 1.1 billion VND from collectives and individuals. This amount of money is donated to support the costs for poor patients and those in difficult circumstances who are being treated at medical facilities in the city.
