At 0:12 on January 4, helicopter number VN-8620 of the 18th Army Corps (Ministry of National Defense) flew to rescue a soldier diagnosed with meningitis, with a serious prognosis, from An Bang Island, and landed safely at Military Hospital 175, Ho Chi Minh City.

According to information from the 18th Army Corps, on January 3, after receiving orders from superiors to use a helicopter to transport a soldier receiving emergency treatment at An Bang Island Hospital to the mainland, the Southern Helicopter Company used an EC225 helicopter, serial number VN-8620, to carry out the mission.
On the afternoon of January 3, the helicopter took off from Vung Tau airport to Tan Son Nhat airport to pick up the medical team from Military Hospital 175. Then, it continued to fly to An Bang island to pick up the patient and bring him to the mainland for emergency treatment.
At 0:12 on January 4, the helicopter landed at Military Hospital 175 and quickly took the patient to the emergency room.
The patient is professional Lieutenant Do Minh Vuong, born in 1997, a repairman in Brigade 146, Navy. The patient was diagnosed with meningitis, with a severe prognosis, beyond the ability to provide medicine at An Bang Island Infirmary.
Immediately after the helicopter landed, doctors and medical staff of Military Hospital 175 quickly received the patient, carried out medical orders, organized emergency care and treatment.
Also according to information from the 18th Army Corps, during the flight mission, despite the complicated weather conditions, night flights, over the sea, long flight times, take-offs and landings at many locations, and urgent preparations, the unit thoroughly implemented timely, correct procedures, closely coordinated with the Air Defense - Air Force, the Navy and related units to handle all situations well.
