With the motto of proactively preventing flooding from afar, keeping the canals dry, irrigating the fields shallowly throughout the season; operating flexibly, proactively irrigating, and preventing drought, Nam Thai Binh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited has developed a plan for operating and regulating water based on the progress of spring rice harvest and the planting season of the summer-autumn crop. In particular, June is the period when localities harvest spring rice, sow seedlings to prepare for summer-autumn crop production, so the Company operates water according to the motto of "taking quickly, withdrawing quickly" to harvest spring rice most conveniently and provide enough water to keep the soil moist for planting early summer-autumn rice. July is the period when localities focus on land preparation and planting summer-autumn rice, so it is necessary to regularly monitor the weather situation, regulate water appropriately for land preparation, planting, and caring for newly planted rice, and proactively drain water to prevent flooding from occurring during low tides. August and September are the peak months of storms and tropical depressions, so flood prevention is a top priority, and the water level of the main canal is kept at flood prevention mode.
To meet the irrigation and drainage requirements for the 2023 summer-autumn crop production and construction safety during the rainy, flood and storm seasons, the Company organized the repair and renovation of 30 culverts under the dike, 16 culverts in the field dams, 16 pumping stations, installed backup piles for 3 key culverts in Kien Xuong district and established a plan to protect culverts across the dike.
