The HBSO's Famous Italian Arias concert on the evening of March 9 at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, with nearly two hours of emotional explosions, was the tip of the iceberg, in exchange for the tireless rehearsals of the artists and orchestra.

As the person who often arranges and conducts the opening concert of the new year, conductor Tran Nhat Minh - deputy head of HBSO's professional department - always likes a cheerful, youthful inspiration when working, but is also serious and meticulous.
He devoted the first part of the concert to honoring the music of Giacomo Puccini, the opera giant, on the 100th anniversary of his death.
The second part of the night featured other famous Italian arias, with skillful vocal techniques and deep, emotional music.
Before the concert, HBSO received two pieces of good news. Violinist Tang Thanh Nam and soprano Pham Khanh Ngoc were awarded the title of Meritorious Artist. Having received the decision the night before, the next day both flew back to Ho Chi Minh City to continue practicing with the orchestra.

"Orchestral artists are at a disadvantage because there are few competitions to shine and be recognized like other solo artists.
So the titles of Nam and Ngoc are well-deserved achievements, and also a great encouragement for the young artists in the troupe," Tran Nhat Minh shared his joy with his two friends.
This concert also features famous Italian soprano Silvia Cafiero.
She integrated very quickly with the orchestra and conductor. Tran Nhat Minh also did not forget to "flex" slightly: "It is truly the professional level of international artists, only one rehearsal and they performed well.
The orchestra also prepared carefully, immediately finding a common voice. HBSO is capable of working with many artists of international stature and is always ready for even more difficult challenges!".

For him, 2024 brings many good signs in terms of family, work and other areas contributing to society.
Perhaps it is time for Minh to start to blossom and see the results. Minh is getting more attention and receiving more offers to participate in projects that put him in the right place than before.
"It is a collective effort. A conductor would be nothing without an orchestra. Minh is happy to have many colleagues and an orchestra accompanying him," Tran Nhat Minh shared.

Belonging to a more interesting spectrum than surfing the net
Always open and enthusiastic about sharing about work and passion, but Tran Nhat Minh is very secretive about his private life.
He chose to stay out of the public's attention on his sensational marriage with supermodel Thanh Hang at the end of 2023, only confiding that he was very happy to enter a new life with a partner who always accompanied and shared.
My wife is very understanding and appreciates what I do, and vice versa. That gives me a lot of strength to do more. I am very happy in my spiritual life, and when I return to work, everything seems beautiful.

When asked about changes before and after marriage, Tran Nhat Minh said the marriage hasn't been long enough, and now he's just full of excitement. Minh is getting busier and busier.
In addition to working at HBSO, he also has many large projects and programs with many other units, collaborating more closely with the Vietnam National Academy of Music and the Academy's Youth Symphony Orchestra (VNAMYO), which was newly established in 2023.
Right after the concert on the evening of March 9 in Ho Chi Minh City, Tran Nhat Minh flew back to Hanoi to prepare for a big show in early April.
He will conduct a part of VNAMYO's concert in collaboration with the World Youth Orchestra, which will come to Vietnam for the first time, bringing together 45 young international artists and 21 Vietnamese artists.
"It was quite an emotional event and had never happened before, so Minh was very happy to participate.
Of course I will fly back and forth because I still have work and family in Saigon. If I leave... my wife won't let me come back!", Tran Nhat Minh laughed.

The conductor also revealed that he used to use social media but quit because he was afraid of getting caught up.
He compares himself to a limited hard drive, only reserving space for things he really cares about or reading books.
Minh also stopped playing games since he was young because he knew that playing would make him addicted and unable to do anything.
"I feel fine without social media. Maybe I will need it in the future, but not right now. I'm a "coward" so I won't go out into places with too much public opinion and information.
Every time I do a project, I have so much information, lessons, and scores to remember... Memorizing a score or an opera is more interesting to Minh than surfing social networks!", Tran Nhat Minh smiled.
