TPO - From now until March 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will build and develop more Book Streets and book spaces in areas such as Binh Tan District, District 7 and Cu Chi District... to contribute to developing a reading culture for local people.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement the project "Building book streets, book spaces and developing reading culture" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. In which, the city will build more new book streets as well as implement the program "Equipping 5 million books for facilities"
With the desire to promote reading culture for people and gradually complete the criteria for UNESCO to recognize as the World Book Capital, the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City have proposed directions and many measures for implementation. In which, the Department of Information and Communications is responsible for developing a plan to survey the reading rate of people in the city in 2023 and develop solutions to increase the annual reading rate to contribute to promoting and developing the reading culture.
The program "Equipping 5 million books for facilities" in the city will be implemented from February 2024 to March 2025 to contribute to the implementation of this plan.

Also according to the plan, from now until March 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will build and develop more Book Streets and book spaces in areas such as Binh Tan District, District 7 and Cu Chi District... to contribute to developing a reading culture for local people.
In addition, the city will continue to invest in and upgrade Nguyen Van Binh Book Street to become a typical and representative address for cultural, tourism and publishing activities, developing the city's reading culture. Thus, together with Nguyen Van Binh Book Street and Thu Duc Book Street, the new Book Streets will contribute to covering the reading space and book culture space throughout the city.

In addition to the fixed Book Streets, the Tet Book Street held in early Spring every year also contributes strongly to the development of reading culture in the city.
The Giap Thin Tet Book Street, held from February 7 to February 14, attracted more than 1 million visitors and shoppers with sales reaching over 10 billion VND. In addition, the Organizing Committee also successfully carried out 63 book exchange and introduction programs. In particular, the Tet book lucky money activity gave more than 16,000 books to visitors at the beginning of the year.
